from my window
shines
boldly
on the floor
chiding me
to wake up
and look at you
lying
next to me
sleeping, smiling
in your warm morning blanket
of sleep
protecting you from
our omnipleasant
sweetness

as the sunlight dares me to,
your sleep-pleasant smile
will fade
replaced by your daylight-smile
i'm not sure
which smile i enjoy most
i think i'll just
watch you sleep
