UK Big Cats - Lynx (Felis Lynx)
The bobtailed member of the cat family,
the Lynx usually grow to 3 - 4 ft (0.9 -
1.2m) in length and stand about 2ft (0.6m
) high at the shoulders.
A fully grown male will weigh around 20lb
(9kg) although they have been recorded
as weighing up to 40lb (18kg).
The colour of the heavy fur is a mixture of
of black, dark brown and tawny yellow,
belly is cinnamon and the tail completely
black.
Lynxes usually lead solitary lives live in
forests, hunt by night using sight and
smell, natural food includes deer, badgers,
foxes, hares, and rabbits.
Lynx are spotted, but do not seem to be
the most popular reported Big Cat in the
UK.
