Our Trip to Lakeshore
News in Salmon Arm

We have started off the year with a bang!! All our members have returned and we now have a new executive of which we are all a part of. I am (Mathew Hunter) once again President with Larisa Andrushko once again Vice-President. We also have a few new members to our family this year and we welcome all of them!
New to our Vernon CYMK family is the Pre.CYMK group for ages 3 to 5 year olds. Pre.CYMK is sponsored and advised by both ourselves and Sr.CYMK. Okay, okay so we do get a small bit of help from our Advisors but really we do most of the work.
Both us and Sr.CYMK have purchase a new computer! Now all of our group can be involved in our web page and doing reports together.
We have re-started our Ukrainian Language Classes again with Mrs.Kniaz and look forward to continuing them throughout the year.
Dec.19th: We held a St.Nicholas Play/Concert. Our play this year featured the "Life and Times of St.Nicholas". We are held our play in our church basement. Many families enjoyed our play this year and I think that they even learnt a bit about the true St.Nicholas. We performed this with both Pre. and Sr. CYMK.
January 7th and 8th,2000: We again caroled this year and had a blast. Only one of us fainted! Over all it was a huge success, we visited many people and spread the joy of our Lord's birth throughout our community. We can't wait for next year.
January 14th, 2000: We will be participated in our very first Malanka (Ukrainian New Year's) celebration at our Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The event was sponsored by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. We did a skit about how Malanka first started. Our vice-president (Larisa) played Malanka and I got to play her hero Vasyl.
February 12th, 2000: We had a sleepover at my house and enjoyed a pancake breakfast the next morning at a local seniors complex. After breakfast we traveled to Salmon Arm to visit with Mrs. Sally Scales, owner of Lakeshore News. She treated us to pizza and a tour of the newspaper. We got to make our own ads, and learned many lessons during our trip. When we got back to my house we enjoyed some skidoo rides before everyone returned home.
February 25th,2000: We enjoyed a "Slacker Night" at our church along with Sr. and Pre CYMK. We watched videos of concerts gone by. Jr. CYMK honored Mrs. Scales with a life time membership into our group. Now she is officially our oldest member.
Now: We are now starting to attend bingo at some of our seniors complexes. We all love bingo with our shut-ins.
We have also begin working on our Taras Shevchenko Concert that will be held March 26th/00 in our church basement. This event is sponsored by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. The concert will start immediately following lunch after the Divine Liturgy and everyone is welcome.
