CYCLING TIMARU
Timaru's original Cycling club was formed in 1922
The Club started life as The Timaru Bicycle Club with Mr.C.Hall as President
five vice-presidents and a committee of eight. Mr.T Stoddart
was elected Secretary.  The Club was later known as The Timaru Cycling Club and many of the clubs trophies bear this name.
This was changed in the 1950's to The Timaru Cash Cycling Club to distinguish it from the recently formed Amateur club. For some yesrs now  the club has been titled simply Cycling Timaru.

. Cycling Timaru conducts a winter road programme of races starting in May with 40 kilometer races and finishing in September with the Classic 160 kilometer  Christchurch to Timaru.

Novice or under 17 races over shorter distances are also held each Saturday.

Track racing is held at the Caledonian Grounds every Tuesday evening starting in November, running untill March and run under the Mid-South Canterbury Cycling Centre of Cycling NZ.

Races are held for Seniors, Novice riders and youngsters on roadster cycles not racing cycles.

This is an ideal place for youngsters to learn the basics of cycling.
