We are avid motorcyclists who wanted to add audio to our bikes. We looked at buying something on the market, but not much was available. What was available, was bulky, ugly, or just plan outrageously priced. Cycle Tunes was born!

Testimonials:

I'm very much looking forward to hooking these up.  I've been looking for a pair of reasonably priced amp speakers for my motorcycle for nearly a year now.  They seem to run around $500.00 and that just seems a little high to listen to music when my friends install a whole stereo on their fairing for that price (but I've never liked that look, nor do I have a fairing) Thanks

I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with the speakers.  I mounted them on my bike this past weekend and besides being very easy to install, and the directions easy to follow, they look and work great. Thanks again, Teresa

FAQ's:

Are they waterproof?

No, they are water resistant. The housings are sealed, except for a small space on the bottom front, where the wires exit. The speakers themselves are made of a rubber material. We have made great  efforts to seal these units against the elements, but if they experience extreme amounts of water, it could intrude. If you get caught in the rain, we suggest covering with a zip lock bag to keep dry. Hey, we are fair weather riders! Treat these as you would your wrist watch.

What is the current draw on the battery?

Only about 1.5A

Can you hear them at highway speeds?

This is all relevant to your bike setup. Windshield, Fairing, Helmet, Road Noise, and Tire Noise all effect  your experience. It has been our experience that no sound system is very audible at 70-80 MPH. These are most fun around town and on State highways!

Is the chrome of good quality.

Yes, both the housing and clamps are the finest quality.

What type of personal walkman do you suggest?

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF A DIGITALLY TUNED RADIO! The reason being, is that MOST of these digital radios, have an integrated BEEP generation feature, so that each time a button is pressed, a BEEP is generated. This feature can in some radios produce a very large sound that is generated into the amplifiers and speakers. In essence it creates a huge spike of noise that could damage the amplifiers or speakers. Check your owners manual of your personal stereo, to see if this feature can be disabled. If it can, feel free to use.

We suggest the use of the Sony Walkman AM/FM cassette radio model number WM-FX195 ($19.95 at Walmart). It has a very long a battery life (25 hours), and has controls that are easily accessible while riding.

CD players are perfectly acceptable, as long "BEEP" feature is disabled, and you can mount it somewhere where it will not vibrate too badly.

MP3 players are also fine to use.

What is the best mounting method for your personal stereo?

In regards to mounting your personal player on your bike, I have had great success in using Velcro tape and mounting on the risers (see photo below).  This allows for easy removal of your personal stereo when the bike is unattended. You will need to experiment to see what works best on your bike.

Do you offer a warranty?

We warrant the product from defects for 60 days. During that period we will repair or replace any defective units for no charge, less shipping and handling. Product warranty will not be honored for abused or tampered  products, including audio "spikes" as described above, or water intrusion.
