Unloading our bikes in a roundabout sort of way...
With the goal of saving a good 15-20 minutes on our journey time to Cocove, Norman provided the solution by taking us a few good pedalling miles east of the official drop-off point.

The only trouble was that there were few places to stop the trailer and the best place just happened to be the roundabout shown above which was three lanes in width and shaped so that the exterior lane was seldom used between exits. So we used it, and, judging by the lack of interest or complaint from other motorists, we couldn't have been the first to do so, either!

Canals south east of Calais en route to Cocove
One of the great things about cycling in France is the instant disappearance of traffic!

We only had to cycle a few yards from the roundabout and it was as if we were in a traffic free zone. Fifteen minutes later saw us on the road that tracks the canal in the picture on the left - in fact from this point on and for the rest of the journey to Cocove we saw no more than a handful of cars.

And timing was perfect too - we arrived there just a shade after 1.00pm!
Parked and ready for lunch...
