With so much said about Apremont already, there is little more to add so I am moving on to the next leg of my trip which took me to Froissy. The ride itself was good and made all the more enjoyable by an unexpected phone call from Paul, enquiring about my progress. I had just taken to the road having stopped for a lunchtime meal in Bulles, chancing upon the most unlikely Pizza restaurant and takeaway - run by a great couple with a young son and daughter all of whom were very chatty - and a superb pizza to boot!
Reaching Froissy didn't take so long. Another fine B&B, this time the chateau farm operated by Francine Hamot. Like so many farmers she and husband Xavier had turned to B&B to supplement the ever dwindling income that the farm provided. Rooms were in the main house shown on the left and were of a very high quality.
There was also a rotunda (seen just to the left in the main picture above), that they had converted into a self-contained entertainment room for weddngs, parties and other private functions. It had its own kitchen and the main room even boasted the strange stone carving of a face shown on the right - secretly and silently produced by the original builder and stone mason For further details on Francine and Xavier's B&B click here
Francine and her husband lived in the other chateau adjacent, with their very friendly labrador dog completing the family. The evening table d'hote was excellent and they are clearly enthusiastic and energetic about their venture. Definitely a place to recommend to stay - it has so much that pleases that a return visit seems almost essential
