Monday 16th August
Once again a woefully large gap in diary updates - and let's not even mention the wedding page....
Most exicting news since the last update was the birth of my sister Claire's baby. Callum James McCurley was born a few weeks ago now, after being induced. Mother and baby both very well. Pictures of the impopssibly cute Callum are waiting for me to upload them...[PmH]
Wednesday 21st July Biggest news lately is that I survived my stag weekend! Fergy organised a great trip to the Trossachs for mountain biking, rafting and some drinking. The mountain biking must have been thirsty work, because I drank far too much and had to get one of the guys to drive back... I'm still not 100% well again but hopefully I'll be fine soon. Pictures to follow once I get them. [PmH] Monday 5th July Another great weekend! We celebrated Caroline's birthday on Friday by going out for lunch with my folks and then generally behaving like kids in the afternon, playing crazy golf and drinking champagne whilst boating (in the rain). On Saturday we went to my cousin's wedding in Crail. A fantastic day was had by all, with loads of dancing, drinking and other stuff beginning with 'D'. Caroline and I are looking forward to our own wedding even more now! Pics of the boating to follow...[PmH] Wednesday 16th June Last night saw the first public appearance of Ceolmhor, the ceilidh band I play bass for. We got a great reception from semi-drunken colleagues and must have made a reasonably good impression as we've been asked to play at a few more functions! I've uploaded a piccy onto the pictures page. I may look sullen, but I'm just concentrating - honest![PmH] Sunday 6th June Whoops! There goes another month without an update! We're just back from attending Jaik & Louise's wedding in Dundee. Pictures are on the pictures page. Jaik and Louise bth looked great and everyone really enjoyed the day. Caroline and I are both even more excited about our own now![PmH] Tuesday 4th May Whew! What a weekend! Caroline and I got back yesterday evening from a surprise trip to Kent. It's Amanda's 21st shortly so Caroline and Gary planned a sneaky trip to surprise Amanda. An ace weekend was had by all, with Jackie & Tom, Chaz, Terry and Jacob and an assortment of mates all making the trip to Chartham. Pictures to follow - maybe tomorrow... [PmH & CeS] Tuesday 20th April I'm just back a mate's stag weekend near Chester, which was spent on a narrow boat. A great time was had by all as we all relaxed, floating gently (and drinking) for the weekend. While I was away, Caroline spent some time doing some painting prep-work and had a trip to visit my parents down in Perthshire.[PmH]
Monday 12th April
Monday again! Even a 3 day weeked is not long enough! Had a great time though, out on Friday for drinkies at a friends, then relaxing/recovering on Saturday. My ride went really well on Sunday, I was in the 14mph group but managed 15.5mph so I was slightly faster than I needed to be. Finished the 67 miles in just over four and a quarter hours, which I was happy with. All good fun, but some nasty hills.
Thursday 8th April Happy Birthday to me! Thanks to everyone who remembered, I had a nice time opening my pressies at 6:15am this morning before I went to work. Nothing major planned for tonight, except a yummy birthday tea, and a piece of Action Man birthday cake... [PmH - aged 26 years, 1 hour and 23 minutes] Tuesday 6th April Only two more days of being 25! Looking forward to my birthday on Thursday, I've got Friday off work so Caroline and I can spend the day together, which will be nice. Off to see the remake of "Dawn Of The Dead" on Saturday afternoon, then I've got a 100km cycle on Sunday. We're off out on Friday night as well, so it should be a great weekend all round. [PmH] Friday 2nd April Friday! Woohoo! No real plans for this weekend, the weather is supposed to be pants so it looks like we might be finishing the painting. Going back a week or two, my RAF presentation was a bit duff - I spent 75 minutes on the train to sit through 40 minutes of acronyms...Everything still on track though, my mate Chris has just been asked for a character reference.[PmH] Wednesday 17th March First off - belated birthday wishes to Rachel, sorry! No excuses! The weather is nice and sunny in Aberdeen just now, but very windy. I'd been keen to get out on my bike but the winds are almost gale force again today. Maybe tomorrow... Planning on posting a new wedding page this afternoon, with new graphics and a bit of an update on how things are going. Anita will be up this weekend, which we're both looking forward to - almost as much as pay day! My mum and dad are off to the States this weekend too, so let's hope they have a good time. I've got an RAF presentation in Dundee next Monday, so I might update then.[PmH] Tuesday 9th March Doesn't time fly? It's been two years exactly since Caroline and I first met, and it's really gone quickly. We're off out for dinner tonight to the best Chinese restaraunt in Aberdeen, which both of us are really looking forward to. Then I've got band practice tomorrrow night, with our expanded band - now we have two fiddlers, one bassist (me), one guitar player and a keyboard player. Keep an eye out for our stadium tour dates...[PmH] Tuesday 2nd March First off Happy Birthday to Fergy! A mere 26 years old. Caroline and I had an ace weekend, entertaining Fergy, Jaik & Louise - pics to follow. It had looked like snow was going to scupper the trip but the conditions were okay in the end. Bit of a funny weekend weather wise, from blizzards and whiteout conditions on Friday to blazing sunshine on Sunday afternoon at the beach. Weird. Typified by yesterdays temperature, it was -14 when I scraped the ice off my car at 7am, then +8 when I left work. Madness...[PmH] Tuesday 3rd February Blimey! Two updates in three days! Imagine that...Bit of a plea for help this one. I've got band practice tonight and we still don't have a name for our wee band. We're a trio (at the moment) doing Scottish folk and related stuff. Tragically there is alerady a ceilidh band called "Deaf Shepherd", so that one is out. Can anybody out there (there are people out there right?) think of a moniker?[PmH] Sunday 1st February I know! I know! More than two weeks since the last update...Caroline and I are completely moved into the cottage now and really enjoying. Our fire-building and lighting skills have improved no end - which is just as well! We'd had a good few inches of snow lately, with both of us missing a days work because our road was blocked. I've put a piccy of the cottage in the pictures section. [PmH] Monday 12th January Ahh! So much easier doing the diary updates from work! We're almost there on the house moving front, just a couple of things to collect from our flat. My mum and dad came up to see us lend a hand on Sunday, and seemed to be inpressed. The cottage is pretty cold, but once we get ourselves a couple of heaters sorted out then we'll be fine. Piccies to follow! [PmH] Tuesday 6th January Oops, another long gap between updates...Happy New Year to everyone! We had a great Christmas in Essex, followed by a couple of days in Blairgowrie. We started moving stuff into the flat on the 30th and continued right up until we both went back to work yesterday. We're hiring a van this Saturday so we'll be living there from this weekend. I'll email the address to everyone then. We had a bit of excitement at the flat when the fuse on the lighting circuit blew over the weekend. A bit of detective work explained it all, whatever cowboy wired the flat had put the 2kW electric shower on our 5A lighting circuit. Genius. So no showers for us this week...just as well we're moving out soon! [PmH] Sunday 21st December As usual, we've been a bit lax on the update front lately. We had another wee flurry of snow this afternoon, but it's all already gone. :o( Not long until Christmas now, we've got everything organised for going down south. We're signing the lease for our cottage tomorrow, so we'll be starting to move our stuff in on Hogmanay. We got ourselves a nice wee digital camera yesterday, so look out for more piccies soon! Not sure if we'll update again before Christmas, so we hope you all have a great time! [PmH & CeS] Wednesday 10th December Oops...not been very good at the whole update thing have I? Well into December now, -4 in Aberdeen and a very pretty layer of frost over everything. Both of us have done a bit of hillwalking lately in between trying to get our Christmas shopping finished. I had an RAF presentation last week which I really enjoyed - just got to fill in another few forms and I should be up for interview early next year! Both of us are really looking forward to our trip to Essex for Christmas, then back up to Aberdeen for nice quiet, cosy Hogmanay. Just finished reading a great book (cheers Fergy!) about three madmen who cycle from the tip of South America to Lake Titicaca - about 10,000km. Good read, but worryingly inspiring. No plans to hand in my notice yet though... [PmH] Monday 24th November First update for a while, got back from visiting Fergy in Leeds yesterday evening. Great weekend, but the 15 hours of driving got to me a bit. More driving now, as I'm off to Edinburgh for a 4 day training course. Logica won't pay for a hotel the night before a course, so they're expecting me to leave Aberdeen at 4:30am to drive to Edinburgh for a course - not massively impressed. Thankfully, I'm staying with rellies tonight instead. Caroline enjoyed a girly weekend with my sister & mum in Newcastle, while I was in Leeds. Good time was had by all![PmH] Monday 10th November Monday again! Had a good weekend, all very relaxing - even got some Christmas shopping done! Thank God for the Kings Of Leon album, which is keeping me going at work today. Imagine the inbred kids of Creedence Clearwater, The Allman Brohters & Lynyrd Skynyrd, all wrecked on moonshine and playing in a shack...fantastic[PmH] Friday 7th November Friday at last! Both of us are very glad that it's Friday and also happy to have the website finished! [PmH & CeS] Thursday 6th November I took a day off work today, planning to go for a 100 mile bike through North Deeside. Didn't quite go according to plan, and I broke a spoke in my back wheel 40 miles into the ride. The rim was so badly buckled that I had to take the back brake off, so no massive descents for me! The 40 miles home was like cycling through treacle, with the rim wobbling away as I made my way slowly home. [PmH] Wednesday 5th November Well it's one day later and I've not got an awful lot done! I have learned how to do tables in HTML though. Why am I doing it all in HTML again?! [PmH] Tuesday 4th November I started work on the website, just to give us a little corner of the web to let people know what we've been up to. Only a couple more sections to do now and we'll have ourselves a basic site...[PmH] |
