YA > Q: What is your favorite
thing to think about?
“A man is what he thinks
about all day long.”
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
.
I rather tend to agree with
this wise observation. My
"favorite thing to think
about" is my book. You know ...
THE Book! It kinda gives
direction and meaning to my
life in a very general sense.
This is important because
these are the kind of "little
things" that make life worth
living by investing it with
depth and quality. If you live
only from moment to moment,
and day to day, without
ever thinking ahead (or behind)
... What do you think
about all day and all night
long? Do you think about
whatever's going on around
you from one moment to
the next moment, and from
day to day? Does this
mean that all day long you
think about the incoming
information that your senses
are giving you, along with
all your emotional responses
to same? Does this mean
that thou art truly a poor
victim of circumstance, and a
slave to your surroundings?
Oh My Stars and Garters!
Who could tolerate living
like that all the time? I know,
I know, we all have to do
this sort of thing every bloody
day. Right? But ALL the time?
Don't you have to be
rather thoughtless and unreflective
to prefer 'thinking
only of the moment' to thinking
'ahead and behind'?
Yes, it's true that there
is much meaning to be had in
action and full immersion
in ... whatever you happen
to be ... umm ... occupied
with? (Is that the right ?)
Anyway, what you tell me
about 'your favorite thing to
think about' tells me not
only who you are, but also
your relative philosophical
worth! :)

> Q2: How to Have a Successful Life? ...
--
Or: The Great Cosmic Secret ?!? --
.
To
be successful ... To build yourself a successful
life
... it is presumed that one's condition, albeit
mortal
and (as it were) terminal, must yet also
exhibit
the signs and feelings of that ever-elusive
state
called Happiness. To be happy ... even in
the
midst of danger and grief and uncertainty, of
poverty,
ill-health, pain and loneliness, and even
in
the midst of all the evil and stupid things that
this
World (and its People) can (and do) provide in
such
abundance ... *THIS* is the secret to Life, the
Universe,
and Everything ... BUT to be Happy you must
first
know HOW to be happy! You must therefore know
many
things: such as peace, contentment, quiet,
liberty
and love, focus and absorption, fascination
and
obsession, passion and glory, mystery and reason,
etc
... and (above all else) ... Joy! ... which can't
be
measured or quantified, or even objectively proven
to
exist, but which is nevertheless the most essential
ingredient
of all happiness; for joy is pure spirit!

2May07 lucarior asks: Why were we created?
.
w:
i have never seen so many garbage-answers to any
question
before; and for that reason alone i am compelled
to
answer. firstly, the human race was NOT created! homo-
sapiens
evolved over long stretches of time from our hominid
ancestors
who were almost as clever as modern-man
(judging
from the answers i see here, maybe even more so).
the
fact is that there is absolutely nothing *necessary* about
our
presence on this planet. in fact, if that meteor had missed
the
earth (about 65 million years ago), we would all be
intelligent
dinosaurs debating about whether or not god is
the
great universal-snake.
