I can't believe you're with me now,
My fingers entwined with yours;
A moment where I've longed to allow
My heart to run its course.
There's not a sound I can hear,
All things around me are blocked out;
My focus is only you, so near,
A love I know I can't do without.
With only inches between our lips
I feel your breath upon my cheek;
From my head to toes to fingertips,
Pure excitement makes me weak.
Closer, slowly, now our mouths move
As I bring my lips to yours;

Every morning we drive to the same coffee shop,
On the same road, up that same hill--
Castaneda would be disappointed.
There's a girl who walks up that hill,
Presumably to class.
Every morning we see the girl with plum red hair,
And every morning I try not to look at her.
The sound of the milk being steamed,
While the coffee grinder grinds the espresso beans
(Just right, like the texture of sugar),
I am violently reminded of what I have not become
And what has become of us because.
It was not shooting-magic; it is not a curse.

Yet the sounds of every morning are like echoing incantations.

Mouthwash naman ang hanap

walang magbabago sa pag-aasawa.
Mandadamay pa ng iba.
Mag-asawa lang
sa tamang dahilan
Kahit wala na sa lotto at kalendaryo
Basta tama ang panahon.

A lone figure on the corner stands
Abandoning shelter, unlike everyone else
His suede shoes are getting wet.
Red light blinks.
He crosses head down.
Looking but not seeing.
Hearing but not listening.
Muted hues of mundane.
His tears mingle with the raindrops.
He tastes the saltiness on his lips.
Nobody notices.
Naturally.
People rush frantically.
He continues his slow pace.
One foot ahead of the other.
Taking him slowly in to the abyss of regret.
He stops finally and looks back.
A solitary tear traverses across his cheek.
"The rain has washed away the memories."
Or so he thinks.
