ZZ: what drew you to the game?
ManiacsHell: same reason as most people, looking for quick little games to play online, came across gamesdomain
ManiacsHell: I tried a few of the games, but cyber wars just stuck with me, I never really played any of the other games on the castle
ZZ: would you say you were one of the best in cw?
ManiacsHell: one of the best? no, definitely not. I played a lot, and I had a pretty high rating (about 1100), but I wouldn't have been able to hold my own against any of the best. I remember playing you a few times, and I think I may have won 1 out of 4 times
ManiacsHell: I understood the game and used what I knew, it was definitely a logic game, no matter how much people said it was pure luck
ZZ: do u have a personal top ten?
ManiacsHell: well, I wasn't ever respected enough to play any of the really good players, but I could probably name a few players I respected
ZZ: ok
ManiacsHell: off the top of my head though, I can't think of many... :-\ I didn't play enough to have regular acquaintances
ManiacsHell: Shadowfire was the best I've played
ManiacsHell: when I began playing, the name I signed up with was "firebomb13" and I joined his "fire clan"
ManiacsHell: he was the leader with about 2 or 3 thousand rating
ManiacsHell: this was early in the year 2000
ManiacsHell: but yeah, he only got better over time
ManiacsHell: you were probably the second
ManiacsHell: my list won't be the best reference, because I didn't play enough people regularly, I don't really know any names, but there were a few people I played a few times around my rating (800-1300)
ManiacsHell: but the only people who stick out are you and shadowfire
ZZ: favorite monster/item?
ManiacsHell: well, I'd have to think about that...
ZZ: I got time
ManiacsHell: I have to say I really liked the spideroid, just because of the many things you could do with it
ManiacsHell: probably 50% of the people you interview will say spideroid, but I've got to say, it was good
ManiacsHell: but when I first started, I always loved the hover tank
ManiacsHell: laser robot was a fun time as well. The shot could fire so far, and it was powerful, so it really helped when there were a few enemy monsters you needed to get rid of
ManiacsHell: favorite commander upgrade, I'd probably have to say I liked the jetpack most, because you could get out of tight situations a lot easier
ManiacsHell: and of course, force armour was good
ManiacsHell: I remember everyone always hated when someone's force armour succeeded, because they would always take forever to kill
ManiacsHell: but my personal favorite was probably jetpack
ZZ: favorite move?
ManiacsHell: hmm
ManiacsHell: I used a lot of different ones, I found that if I used one too much, it either started not working, or got boring
ManiacsHell: but I'd say my favorite...
ManiacsHell: was when I beamed down something really improbable, like 10 or 20%, and then on the next turn holo down something about as improbable. I loved the feeling when your opponent tried to holo the first one you put out, and found that it was a beam down, and knowing that I now had two good monsters out, with them thinking both were beam downs
ManiacsHell: it sounds kind of childish I guess, but it was fun to do :-)
ZZ: lol
ZZ: risky move to pull
ManiacsHell: true, but they usually didn't try to holo the second
ManiacsHell: And yeah, as Sir Gut said in his interview, I also liked using the teleport and kill. Every time I did it, it felt really cheap, but it was effective.
ZZ: favorite teammate?
ManiacsHell: hmmm
ManiacsHell: I remember people I teamed with, but unfortunately don't remember many names :-\
ManiacsHell: lol, even though they weren't rated, sometimes the funnest games were ones I teamed up with my brothers.
ZZ: who were your brothers?
ManiacsHell: their account names?
ZZ: yes
ManiacsHell: well, one of them rarely played, he always used a guest, but the other...
ManiacsHell: "uwillLose"
ZZ: worst high points player?
ManiacsHell: eugh, this is annoying, I can't remember many names, I'm sorry, but there was someone I played a few times rated at about 4000, and I beat him every time, it made me happy, but then on the other hand, yes, he was pretty bad
ManiacsHell: I think he had the word "red" in his name though, lol, I'm really not sure
ZZ: anything else u would like to add?
ManiacsHell: well, I think I'd just like to say, I played Cyber wars a lot, it was a really good game, despite it's outward appearance of being simple, it was actually a very involved game that required skill to play well. It had many little quirks that made it interesting and more complicated, and I'd just like to say that whoever owns the rights to it (I think Jagex), should definitely put it back online. There were many people who played it, and if they put it on their runescape site, or just anywhere that Runescape players could find it, they would have a whole lot of people wanting to play it.
ZZ: well said
ManiacsHell: :-) I try, it makes it more persuasive
ZZ: any secrets u want to reveal?
ManiacsHell: well, I have to admit, I did win a few games by freezing it ;-)
ZZ: lol
ManiacsHell: oh yeah, and another thing, usually when I played with three people (myself included) I usually teamed up with both people, leaving them to kill each other while I built an army :-)
ZZ: lol
ZZ: I preferred a 2 on 1 where I was the 1
ManiacsHell: those were fun too, especially when they insulted you the whole time, yet you beat them anyway, that's a good feeling :-)
ZZ: I guess interview over? unless you have anything else?
ManiacsHell: not that I can think of, thanks for giving me the chance to help :-)
