Welcome Dear Members,
Thank you for being a part of Yahoo! CyberPoet’s Niche Chat Club. Our
club is a gathering place of poets from around the globe. It is a place to meet,
to discuss and share the work of favorite and familiar established poets, and
our own original work. I and my co-founder, AngelPie_Mouse mean this place to have
a cozy atmosphere where you can feel comfortable exploring and sharing your poetic style and exchanging ideas with other poets. We wish to make this your club.
If anybody has any suggestions for the club or wishes to contribute any columns to this newletter, please contact the Founders of the Club.
Thank You,
Mary Gonzalez (Founder of the CyberPoet’s Niche)

For several months now, Cyber Poet's Niche has had its own webpage. It is where we showcase the work of many of our members, list URLs to pages which focus on hundreds of favorite and familiar poets as well as websites that provide tools to help us write better, and post information and answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs). In the past couple of months, we have explored copyrighting and publishing--important issues to our members.
The website is authored and maintained by AngelPie_Mouse and is located at the following address: http://www.geocities.com/cyberpoetsniche.
Addendum from the Webmaster:
This month (between June 20 and July 21) contributions were added to the showcase pages for the following members:
AngelPie_Mouse,
ArrylT (new member),
EnchantedWords (crowstouch),
Lane_Ware (new member),
MGonzalez01,
OldCusser,
RomusthePoet,
and Telescope07
(or for seven of our twelve showcase members). You may view these additions by clicking the name (on the website repost of this newsletter only).
We also added to our Interactive Poem and our listing of URLs for poetry sites and sites on writing aids.
Does anyone actually see our website?
During the month June 1 - 30, 1999, Geocities-Yahoo! reports 201 qualified impressions (hits). That means an average of 6.7 people per day visited our website and checked out our poetry and what we had to offer. We are getting noticed.
If you are a member of Cyber Poet's Niche Yahoo Chat Club and do not currently have a Showcase Page representing your work on the message board, it because we have not yet received your permission to reprint your work which is necessary to prevent question of copyright infringement. We want you here too. Please know that publication of your work on our website with copyright notation does constitute legal warranty of authorship and is as binding as if published in print media. Since we maintain that the copyright is yours and remains yours, this becomes a form of protection for your work.
You may obtain a copy of the permission form on this website by clicking here, or see the page Showcase Questionnaire from the Main Index page of this website.
We also welcome your articles and notes and information on websites you think would be of interest to your fellow poets and poetry lovers. And please, tell your friends where we are.

Every month there is a new Group Poem at the CyberPoet’s Niche
Club. It begins on the 20th of the previous month, with this newsletter, and concludes a few days before (so we can go to press with it). This work is a special poem woven by each of the members of
the CyberPoet’s Niche (that is: all members are welcome to contribute in open forum). This month, for the month of July, the topic was "images of summer" and the Club composed this poem:
Images of Summer
Summertime!!! The heat is on!!
Blue skies above,
With a raging, orange sun
And the pulsating heat of a summer love!!!
Barbacues flaring
The smell of smoldering coals
The aroma of hot dogs in the park
As children play ball
And the dogs bark... (mgonzalez01) |

I would reach for you.
A smothering blanket
weighs down the arms
presses the body
drapes the head and shoulders
lies scoldingly on bare knees.
Too hot, the sun
where no breeze comes to lend relief
and no shade is born.
But in its ardent blister
all things whither.
(AngelPie_Mouse) |
| |
From somewhere in mind,
the thought carries unto past,
when time was not meant to be,
when summer was fun
through the eyes of a child.
Whence the moment of heat,
this day brings,
and shall be forgiven into night's
calm and soothing comfort of coolness,
time again will not be of importance,
The child that lie in sleep,
is all that matters.
(crowstouch) |

Summertime, Oh, sweet, sweet Summertime!
You come forth with a lifeforce of your own!
A burning, incandescent radiance that at this
time..
The season, short as it may be and short
outgrown..
Pulsates with the fire of your soul
And covers us with rays of sunshine
Which engulfs us all...

We presently have 35 members at the CyberPoet’s Niche. We have Chat Night every Wednesday at 9PM Eastern. We are number 18th place (and climbing; we were 20th last month) on the Poetry Clubs at Yahoo. We are striving to be number 1! If you have a friend you would like to invite, please do so.
Other clubnews: This Yahoo! Chat Club was founded on August 20, 1998. We will be celebrating our one year anniversary this next month. For a special challenge, perhaps we should all put some thought into how we can improve the services the club is already providing and what new services we may provide and how we can better help each other become better poets, writers, and practicianers of literary appreciation. Help, too, would be appreciated on some ideas on how to celebrate! Send your ideas to MGonzalez01 or post them to the message board.
Founder Sought: We are currently contemplating expanding our founder list to accomplish a ratio of one (1) founder for every ten (10) members although we may later expand this number. The idea is to get more people actively involved with the adminstration and business of the club--perhaps, find someone to moderate chat sessions, help with expanding our membership, help searching out URLs. If you think you are ready for this responsibility, please contact Mgonzalez01 or AngelPie_Mouse.
