GeoLibrary is a compilation of web sites organized (loosely) library-style, using the Dewey Decimal classification system. Topics have been pre-searched, and only websites containing information which could be helpful in educational research have been included; sites which are solely or mainly advertising and/or lacking in factual content have been excluded to facilitate research and help users make best use of their time. It is designed to be of help to students, teachers, librarians and to the general public.
Another ambitious undertaking has been finding links to web sites with content appropriate to each of the Virginia Standards of Learning on the high school level. The SOL pages for each content area quote the specific SOL and list any relevant web sites found for that SOL.
If you are familiar with locating books in your local public or school library, you should be right at home with the GeoLibrary format. If you would like more detailed information on the Dewey classification system, go to Cyber Dewey -- Dewey Decimal classification system.
My name is Marie Long. I am a retired high school librarian. I enjoy searching the Internet and learning new things. This is my first attempt at a personal web site. It was first posted in April, 1997. I am an avid amateur (ham)radio operator and have added a page for amateur radio and electronics.
It is my belief that each link leads to a family-friendly site. However, due to the changes which can occur on any web site and the number of links I have provided, I cannot make guarantees as to the nature of the content. If you encounter any problem such as "site not found" or material which you feel is inappropriate, please email me. Also, if you have any sites which you think should be added, or wish to comment, feel free to contact me.
Your comments and suggestions are appreciated.
