Hybrid Tea 5' 'Solitaire' x 'Sunbright' Yellow, 4"-5" blooms, Double, Long Lasting, High Centered, Large, 30 Petals, Lightly Fragrant: Spicy MACwairar: McGredy, 2001 This relatively new introduction from New Zealand is earning high marks in my garden. Prolific, disease resistant, and a good cutting rose pretty much sum up my opinion. 'Aperitif' is elegant and easy to grow, requiring little attention. This is an exceptionally robust rose that sets an abundance of buds which are a clear, soft yellow with high-centered form. Long, straight stems are ideal for cutting, and flowers keep very well in the vase. The bush grows easily in the garden. Growth habit is upright, and well-branched with outstanding vigor. I have been very impressed by its hardiness and vigor. It really blooms alot for a hybrid tea. Weathered a cold, snowless winter with little protection. Growth has been strong to about 4' tall by 3 1/2' wide. No disease problems to date with a moderate spray program. 'Aperitif' is well on its way to becoming my favorite yellow rose. |
