Becoming a Christian!
Becoming a Christian is not just saying you believe in Jesus. It involves a commitment to surrender everyday of your life to Jesus. Many people have a lot of misunderstandings about the Christian religion, and thus they do not really know what it means to be a Christian. Before you become a Christian, you seriously needs to know the truth about Christianity, what it really means, not what you thinks it mean. Only when you really know what having a relationship with Jesus is about, will Christianity really become an important part of your life. If not, you might just find that there is no difference in your life, whether you are a Christian or not. Before you become a Christian, do spend some time to read my before becoming Christian page. Click here, to go there, and come back here only when you make up your mind to be serious about committing to Jesus. It is better to be serious but late in becoming Christian than to be superficial in your walk with God.
So, you had made up your mind? You had decided that you must get to know this Jesus that died for your sins, and be a transformed person. You are serious about being a Christian. You are not here just because you are after the Christian religion, but because you want to know the one True God, and build up a relationship with him. You had decided that you no longer want an empty feeling in your heart, and you want to experience a change in your life. You want to be transformed. You want peace and joy. Then, you are here for the right reason.
But if you want to be a Christian, you must be prepared to give up your old way of living. You must change your priorities. If you are really serious about knowing God, you don't have to worry about these issues. God will slowly lead you in your changes.
To be a Christian, you must first admit that you sin. That is, you had done wrong things in your life.
Secondly, you must repent of your sins. That is, to turn away from your sins. Turning away from your sins means to be determined not to commit them, anymore. If you are really determined in this area, God will help you in the process.Ask God also for the forgiveness of your sins.
Thirdly, you must acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the lord of your life and that he died for you, surrender the control of your life to Jesus, and thank him for his sacrifice on the cross.
Finally, be committed to what you had said to the lord.
If you really do not know how to go on to pray, here is a prayer, you can make.
"My lord Jesus, I admit I am a sinner and had sinned against you. I want to give up this life of sins. I repent of them, and ask you to forgive me of my sins. Help me to be transformed. My lord, I acknowledge that you died for my sins on the cross. I am grateful to what you had done. I decided to make you the lord of my life, and I surrender all controls of my life to you. Help me to stay committed in this decision I make. Thank you, Jesus. I pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen."
