Beyond the Madness:
A Tribute to the Incident at Littleton

Who would have believed this day would end like this?
It was such an ordinary day....
Mothers saying goodbye to their children with a kiss;
Children going off to school and then off to play

Who would have quessed that amongst the mundane routine
Of things taken for granted
Like getting into jeans
And having breakfast....
Going off too school like anyother day
Tragedy would strike in just one second?

Who would have thought that at the end of this peaceful afternoon
Parents would never see their children again?
Beyond the madness that occured so soon....
Which left over twenty children dead and their parents in deep pain
Of loss and despair...

We all come together
In unity and love
Better late than never...
To try to soothe and comfort this wound so rough
In a candlelit vigil of love, support and guidance

Together we must stop this disease called prejudice and say "Enough!"
Beyond the madness and confusion...
We must create an energy field of love
Which will block out all hate and violence!!!

In love we come together in unity
Offering eachother comfort and peace...and consolation...
We are all greiving here in unity..
Though each deals with his/her pain in his own way..
We interlock in one embrace
Hoping that our pain will end...
Hoping that the hate will cease...
Hoping beyond the madness
That there will once again be peace
Although this small gesture will not bring back our children
It can kindle a small flame within each
Love has the power to irradicate
This cancer that grows within our society...
Beyond the madness , love can comfort the pain that the survivors feel...
Only Love and nothing else
Can make this harsh, fresh wound of violence
and bloodshed heal

The Hummingbird and the Rose

A gentle rose blossomed beautifully
Upon a spacious meadow
It graced the air with the fragrance
Of its luscious nectar and her scarlet glow;

She revelled in the glory of her youth...
Her pretty face put all girls to shame.
Her essence lingers in the air like sweet vermouth;

In the horizon a hummingbird zoomed by
swiftly flapping its wings far and wide
Searching for some tender morsel by and by
To appease his apettite which is never satisfied

The sound of its humming filled the air
Like a symphony
Filled with a hunger, it could no longer bear
it dove down quickly...
To a lustful feast!!!
The hummingbird, full at last did retreat
Into the cool night
Flapping its wings in a backward flight
And the rose, depleated of its life-giving juice
Was left standing in wonder and delight

Thorn Within My Heart

Today a thorn was driven
Deeper, deeper inside my heart
Whithout a reason given
This excruciating pain is tearing me apart

Dont know why women suffer so
Was she designed this way?
To support all kinds of pains and woes
And still go on with her day

Within my heart there are many heartaches
Which wear my soul down
until my heart like crystal breaks
Into a billion pieces scattered all around this corrupt town;

A womans heart is a souptureen
Of sorrow, pain, joy and glee...
A vast sea, tourquoise-green...
A womans heart is a mystery

This thorn thrusts deeper
And tears my hearts walls in twain
I can see the Grim Reaper
Claim my poor heart which has died from the pain

What makes a woman beautiful
is not her countenance nor body
It is the many sufferings she must endure all in all
That makes her strong and pretty

Ever After

Oh, do not be so selfish...are you satisfied?
How can you be so cruel?
You would like me to hide
From the world; Like Repunzel
You have locked me away within a stony tower
Where no man can ever reach for me
Is that fair?
Youve enchained my happiness and glee
I am young no longer
Are you happy now?
My childhood is almost gone
I am almost an old maiden...you wish for me to take a vow
That I would remain like this forever...
My heart bleeds so much from your cruelty
Please set me free this instant, for once be fair
For true love cannot find me in this tower of misery
Do not be so mean! You cannot hold back my Destiny
Regardless of your wicked spell...
Yes! Someday a prince will find me and set me free
From this nightmarish fairytale...
yes! A prince shall penetrate these stony walls forever
Break down the barriers that youve built around me
And take me to his castle where we will live..happily ever after!

Sweetness

You are the sweetner of my soul
Your heart is a sweet confection
My soul is bitter like gull
But your pressence and affection
sweetens this entity
With a nectarous, syrup sweeter than honey
Come, sweetness!!! Immerse me with your sweetner
And sugar-coat this soul
so sour and very bitter
With the honey of your nature!

(for Sammy, my "Sweetness")

A Silent Love

I love you in silence
In the phosphoresence of the moonlight
I delight in your presence!
Your soul is the candle that illuminates my darkest night
I love you with an immense passion
Which engulfs you entirely
And protects you from harms way
But you do not realize, sweetheart
The pain which in my hearts core lay...
There is a hole inside my very heart
Which vibrates with despair
You are a breath-taking work of fine art
You are indeed something rare
Which I must acquire
Yet, I must admire you from afar
For you belong to another
And you do not yet recognize my appreciation
I love you deeply...like a vast ocean wide
That I am sure my heart will burst with affection
I love you with so much power that I simply cannot hide
This over-whelming emotion I carry deep inside...
In silence I must suffer
Not knowing if you feel the same
If you truly love me and are willing to render
your heart and soul for me, or feel ashamed
Of my foolish obsession
Which binds me to you
I will love you forever
Though you may not recipricate
This love I feel for you is like a river
Which flows through the veins of fate...
I am content in being a giver
For there is much more joy in giving
Than in receiving...this is true
I will love you in silence
though my heart breaks from this misery,
Admiring you from a distance
This lonely heart beats for you constantly
Waiting, waiting patiently
For the day you love me too!

September

At the end of summer
When skies are amber
And leaves begin to wither and dye their shades
From forest green to crimson red
You know September is here again;

When the atmosphere is fresh and crisp
But summer is still not over
And you can still feel the warmth os summer...
Yet feel the silent chill of Autumn in the air
August once had an affair
With bittersweet September
A lengthy courtship followed suit
Till Venus fused the two together
This miracle bore sweet fruit
Which blessed Mother Nature
and doused her with bittersweet perfume
warming her soul
With the essence of Autumn Midnight Passion.

A Gift of Sunshine

The blizzard fell down in silent torrents, and it was bitter cold
The temperature was fifteen below
And as I shivered with my hands , wrinkled as if I were old
My heart froze there underneath the bitter snow;

A chill ran down my very soul
As I tried to brave the winter head on
Whilst I travelled through the avenue with my woolen shawl
Wrapped over my coat of heavy nylon;

My heart was saddened and it shivered there
Alone, it suffered froze-bite
My shadow and I walked by in despair
As we passed many couples huddled in sheer delight;

Couples who hand in hand warmed each other in a comforting cuddle
While I walk slowly by myself in this frigid town
As a chill grasped my soul
Which almost knocks me to the ground;

As I walked down this thouroughfare
A stranger crossed my path
He travelled the same crooked, frigid path and I noticed his stare
He was bitter cold and his hands trembled with winters wrath;

As we neared each other he flashed me a warm smile
Which melted the snow with the warmth of his smile, big and wide
His smile brought on the sunshine with its own distinguished style
And my soul suddenly felt warm inside
In my entire life Ive never felt June come in December
As that one chilly afternoon
When my soul and my entire being was warmed by the smile of a stranger
Which turned Decembers frigid weather into the warm month of June

Love Bait

I saw you last Saturday...
Disconcerted and broken...
Your face unshaven and hair in utter disarray!
You are a shadow of the man I used to know
A very proud and confidant man
With an ego bigger than life that used to glow
With a burning desire and zest...I dont understand!

the night you left me so macho and confidant
I was in a trillion pieces...devestated by my recent loss.
We had such a good thing going till my heart rent
With your goodbyes my heart you toss;

And now ten years later youve returned to me
An empty shell
With eyes that have lost their lustre when once they were shiny,
And a soul which seems to have gone to hell
And undergone sheer torture

Tell me, sweetheart
Did she turn out a predator?
Preying on you until she had your heart
On a platter?
Your lil heart was her alluring bait
Alas! Tut,Tut....you had an unfortunate fate!

Ha!!! I knew there would come a day
When you realized you were mistaken!
And came crawling to me with a mouthful to say
Wishing beyond all hope that my fingers have shaken
Like a magical wand to fix all your woes?
And make your pain go away....
Sorry to disappoint you, sweetie
But my life is so much better since youve been gone
And I am wiser, stronger, radiant
So you take me for a fool once more!
You think you can enter
And plead with me until I open my arms to you again...
Well, let me show you to the door
Make an about face, love....goodbye forever!
Go back to your cheap pathetic whore
You dont thrill, fool, nor fill me with pitty any longer!

In Memorium We Honor Those
Whose Blood Was Shed

They were young servicemen of twenty-two
And on their suits they wore Red Badges of Courage!
Young men and women who gave their souls for glory
In the name of freedom; in the name of victory!

They spilled their guts over Germany
And int he havoc of the Vietnam War
They risked their lives in the Persian Gulf
And death came knocking at their door
Today we honor such heroic deeds of valor
Thought they are long gone, they will not be forgotten!
As long as the American flag waves over a country of Democracy
Their names will shine in splendor...
In Memorium we honor our valiant servicemen
In our hearts there is a white carnation
That will never fade
We will gaze up to the heavens
And see their faces amongst the constellations
And the fifty stars which represent our United Nations

Victory of The American Eagle

Out in the distance
The American Eagle glides
Triumphantly across the sky
With the Spirit of patriotic valor...
His mission is to establish liberty
And defend the cause of justice;

At a glance
I see the mighty Eagle passing by
At an alarming altitude...
I see him returning safely home
With an air of posie and fierce attitude
He sits victoriously upon that purple-mountain peak
Savoring the sweet taste of victory
His prey clutched tightly within each talon!

Day the Fallen Soldiers Cried

The rain poured down in Arlington
The sky was dark and grey
All throughtout the cemetary there was no one
Not a sound was made on this dreary day in May;

The echoes of the fallen
Cried out loud and clear
A booming noise like fire from a cannon!
crying "Remember us! Oh! Hear our pleas, we fear..
That the living goes on without recall"
So many years have come and gone
And all our efforts have gone with us to the grave upon our fall...
No longer are we remembered for our bravery which with our very lives we gave..
In the name of Demorcacy!
We have fought in so many wars...a million miles away
We've suffered so much casualties...for what purpose, can you give us any?
What is our reward? To lie in some shallow grave out here..year after lonely year
Whilst the living benefits the fruit of our labors...Is this fair?
So sad, So very sad...So very dark and lonely there...
Amongst the rows and rows of American flags waving in the air...
and miles and miles of poppies strewn all over Arlington National Cemetery....
The dead cry in lament...because nobody even cares!

Samual

She really loved him so
With a strong and potent, but subtle love...
So obvious that it did show!
Her disquise was not enough
To hide her sharp feelings towards the man!
He was the apple of her eyes
And on a silver platter she handed him her heart
There was something extrodinary about this gentleman!

He caught her by surprise!
Off guard, he knocked her off her feet
Left her to her own demise
She fell in a bottomless abyss...
He was so mannerly and gentle and sweet
She placed him on a pedastal...
And made his home on Mt. Olympus!
There was certainly something about him ethereal!

He was the epitomy of manliness...
There was something about the man ...
A certain flair of finesse...
A true ladys gentleman!
He came to her
When the world was bitter cold
One fine evening in November
And caught her with a potent hold.

And she loved him with a sharp but tender love
That completely engulfed her Samual!
She was determined to love him passionately,

affection was not enough...
To repay him for his sweetness;
to love him forever became her ultimate goal!
