Chief Warrant Officer-3 Chris E. McKenzie, a native of Toledo, Ohio, joined the Marine Corps Reserve in 1987 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego in 1988. As a Staff Sergeant, He was selected for the Reserve Warrant Officer Program in 1999.

 

Upon his appointment, Chief Warrant Officer McKenzie reported to Engineer Company C, 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group in Peoria, Illinois in 1999. He assumed duties as the Equipment Platoon Commander and was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer-2 in 2001.

 

From February to June 2003, Chief Warrant Officer McKenzie deployed to Kuwait and advanced north into Iraq with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at the onset of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, supervising the many convoys, earthmoving, and materiel-handling missions of the company. Promoted to Chief Warrant Officer-3 in 2004, he was again recalled and deployed with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force for OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM II, serving as Equipment Platoon Commander for Engineer Company, CSSB-7, CSSG-11, 1st FSSG at Al Asad Air Base in Al Anbar Province, Iraq from August 2004 to February 2005. In this capacity, He supervised all Engineer Company motor transportation and engineer heavy equipment support missions and all associated equipment maintenance.

 

Chief Warrant Officer McKenzie was recalled to active duty for the fourth time in his career most recently for service with the 2nd Marine Logistics Group in OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM 06-08.2. During this last deployment, he served as Assistant Logistics Officer and Maintenance Management Officer for 6th Engineer Support Battalion (Forward), 2nd MLG at Al Taquaddum Air Base in Al Anbar Province, Iraq from August 2007 to March 2008.

 

Chief Warrant Officer McKenzie currently serves as Peacetime/ Wartime Support Team Officer-In-Charge at General Support Maintenance Company, 4th Maintenance Battalion in Rock Island, Illinois.

 

Chief Warrant Officer McKenzie earned a Bachelor of Education Degree from The University of Toledo in 1994 and a Master of Science Degree from Western Illinois University in 2001. His military education includes Reserve SNCO Career Course in 1998, Warrant Officer Basic Course in 2000, Engineer Equipment Officer Course in 2001, Expeditionary Warfare School (Distance Education Program) in 2006, and The Command and Staff College (Distance Education Program) in 2009.

 

Chief Warrant Officer McKenzie's personal awards include The Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal. In his civilian career, Chief Warrant Officer McKenzie teaches English, coaches the boys and girls Cross Country teams, and sponsors the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at John Deere Middle School in Moline, Illinois.

 

Chief Warrant Officer McKenzie and his wife have three daughters and reside in Moline, Illinois.
