This is the worksite Historic Theaters of Philadelphia, an online multimedia resource proposed by Christa Williford of the University of Warwick's School of Theatre Studies. Currently, this is an outline and indicator of the scope and content of the project, which began in 2003 and is ongoing. Five theaters have been selected for the project. Collections of (1) iconographic, (2) contemporary descriptive, and (3) bibliographic information specific to these select sites will be the heart of this work, and from this information approximately 6 architectural models will be built. All of the information will be briefly contextualized in five general essays on the early history of Philadelphia theaters.
