Was Joseph the brother of John Merrill born 1760-70 also of Monongalia and Marion Cos., VA who married 13 Dec 1798 Monongalia Co., VA to Jemima BATTEN, another triplet daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Merrill? His children were Henry, Elizabeth, William m. Mary Hays, Rawley m. Nancy Davis, Joanna m. Hedgeman Merrifield, Euphemia, Jemima, Andrew m. Julia Davis, Charlotte, Stephen m. Hester Conaway, John William m. Mary J. Davis; an unnamed son; Emily and Jane Merrill.

(2) William S. Merrill born circa 1802 VA. In 1870, at age 60 years, he resided with the Austin Merrill family.
(3) Burr Merrill was born 24 Oct 1806 VA. He was a farmer and is found as head of household from 1850 to 1860 in the Monongalia Co. (later Marion Co., WV) census records. He died 22 Mar 1862 Marion Co. and is buried in the Merrill Cemetery, Pawpaw, Marion Co., WV. He married 15 Dec 1840 Monongalia Co., VA to Malinda MORRIS (1817-1903) the daughter of Richard Morris and Susannah Stull.

(11) Harrison Merrill was born 19 May 1827 VA. He married Mar 1851 Marion Co., WV to Elizabeth PRICKETT (1820-1865), the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Prickett. He married second before 1870 to a woman named Sarah. He died 3 May 1875 at age forty-seven years and is buried in the Prickett Cemetery, Marion Co., WV.
(1) Tazwell Cleon Merrill was born 6 Jan 1842 Marion Co., WV. He moved to Bourbon Co., KS where he married 9 Apr 1871 to Susan M. ALLSUP, daughter of William Allsup and Love Randolph. He was a farmer and they resided in Timberhill Township from 1880 to 1900. He died there after 1904 and is buried in the Mapleton Cemetery, Bourbon Co., KS.

He married next to Susan Ara Belle "Bell" McCARTNEY (1860-1921). Richard died 12 Nov 1906 and is buried in the Merrill Cemetery, Paw Paw District, Rivesville, Marion Co., WV. His children were Willie Darby, Charles Albert, Chauncey Joseph, and Austin Burr Merrill by his first marriage. Children by his second marriage were Anna Malinda, Kathleen, Ranny McCartney, Monta Fern, Susie Matilda, George Gordon, and Martha Mary Merrill.
(9) Caroline "Carrie" Merrill was born 15 Sep 1856 Marion Co., WV. She married 9 Oct 1873 Marion Co., WV to Jonathan Martin SATTERFIELD (1852-1892), son of Nimrod and Eliza Ann Satterfield. Carrie moved in 1908 to Phoenix, AZ where she resided with three daughters.
(10) Ida Eliza Merrill was born 18 Dec 1857 Marion Co., WV. She married 22 Apr 1880 Marion Co., WV to William Filson HOOD (1801-1906). She died 7 May 1943 and is buried at Mt. Hood Cemetery, Morgantown, WV.
(11) John Franklin Merrill was born 8 Oct 1859 Marion Co., WV. He married after 1880 to Ida WILCOX.
(1) William B. Merrill born 16 Feb 1872, died 6 Feb 1892. He is buried in the Northway Cemetery, Bourbon Co., KS. He was not married.
(2) Alva Randolph Merrill was born 7 May 1873 Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS. He died 27 Jul 1927 at age fifty-four years in Mapleton, KS and is buried in the Mapleton City Cemetery. He married about 1913 to Percy Pearl FRANKENFIELD Dukes, (1884-1944), the widow of George Dukes. She married (3) to a Mr. Shannon.
(3) Mary Alberta "Birdie" Merrill was born 31 Aug 1875 Mapleton, Bourbon, KS and died 19 Feb 1963 at age eighty-seven years. She is buried in the Northway Cemetery, Mapleton, KS. She married (1) to Daniel BARRY (1844-1912) and (2) to Dave PRIDDY who died in 1922. Birdie then moved to Lucas, KS until November, 1961 when she moved to Fort Scott, KS and resided with her niece Mrs. Austin (Florence) Young.
(4) Della Hazelton Merrill was born 2 Jun 1877 Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS and died 13 Jul 1913 at Ft. Scott, KS. She is buried in the Northway Cemetery, Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS. She married (1) to William DONALD (1870-1929) by whom she had Roy Irvin Donald, Muriel Edna Donald, and Florence May Donald. (see DONALD family) She married (2) to Fred STEINBRING and had Harrold Merrill Steinbring and Vernon "Hazel" Steinbring. She married (3) 4 Mar 1913 in Garnett, Anderson Co., KS to Charles WAIDER of Hanover, Germany. They were married only four months when Della died. After her death, Charles Waider adopted and raised the four eldest children. They assumed the surname of Waider.
(5) Curtis Cleon Merrill was born 15 Dec 1878 in the Baker neighborhood, near Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS. He died 10 Nov 1968 at age eighty-nine years at Pittsburg, KS. He is buried in the Northway Cemetery in Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS. He was unmarried.
(6) Lula Love Merrill was born 5 Mar 1881 at Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS. She was retarded and spent her later years at the State Hospital at Parsons, Labette Co., KS. She died 21 Nov 1918 at age thirty-seven years and is buried in the Northway Cemetery, Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS.
(7) John Ramer Merrill was born 15 May 1886 Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS and died 4 Feb 1937 Iola, Allen Co., KS. He was buried in the Northway Cemetery, Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS. He married to his first cousin Myrtle Melinda Clayton.
