Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:
3/4 c. butter, soft
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
4 tsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind
1 3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. oats (uncooked)
Directions:
Beat butter until creamy; beat in sugar gradually. Add egg; beat until light and fluffy. Blend in milk, vanilla, lemon rind. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt. Add to creamed mixture; mix well. Stir in oats. Chill dough at least 2 hours. (Chill overnight). Roll dough on lightly floured board or canvas to 1/8" thickness. Cut out with floured cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Sprinkle cookies with sugar. Bake in pre-heated oven (350 degrees) for 3-10 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
