Edited by Lori Marie Carlson

Twelve years after the publication of Cool Salsa, Lori Marie Carlson has followed up with a new anthology of Latino poems. In chapters according to theme, these verses touch on language and identity, neighborhoods, love, family, and victory - some funny, some bittersweet, all providing an insight to Hispanic culture. Some of the poems were originally written in English, others in Spanish, but all have been translated into both languages and are repeated, first in English, then Spanish, with exception of the final poem, which contains entire lines of Spanish and English. The "glossary" at the end lists the meanings of Spanish words and phrases, but rather than an alphabetical list, it wisely lists them in chronological order by title, making it easy to read the poems and flip quickly to the glossary if necessary. Like Cool Salsa, Red Hot Salsa is a must-have for every poetry collection. Highly Recommended.
