cover art from In Your Face: Facts about Your Features In Your Face: The FACTS about Your Features
Donna M. Jackson

This fascinating account explains all the scientific evolutionary reasons we have facial features, and what service each provides to us. It also explains age-progression technology and describes two rare conditions: prosopagnosia, or face blindness, which causes people not to recognize faces and Moebius Syndrome, which occurs when children are born without the ability to smile or frown due to two inactive facial nerves. A final chapter is devoted to the cultural ideas about beauty and why facial beauty is important. The information presented is detailed and engrossing, and the photographs add appeal. Recommended.
