Care of the Chinese Water Dragon
BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO PURCHASE A LIZARD...

Lizards have become very popular pets, rivaling or surpassing boas and turtles.  Several species of lizards are recommended for beginners, while some require specialized care or an experienced keeper.  If you are going to buy a pet lizard, be sure you can take proper care for the animal.

-Will you have space for the correct sized terrarium?
-Will you feed the lizard its' proper diet?
-Will you clean the water daily and make sure your lizard is healthy?
-Are you willing to do some research on the breed, to find out as much as you can about it?  Most importantly, are you willing to pay veterinary bills, electric bills, (heating and lighting) and pay for food every other day?

Lizards require a lot of care and responsibility, so if you are willing to have one,  you must be prepared for all the factors listed above.

-Before you buy a lizard, you should probably know what breed you are willing to get.  One of the most popular breeds, is  the Green or Chinese Water Dragon, (Scientific name, Physignathus cocincinus) is a relatively large lizard that can  grow up to 40 inches.  They are omnivores (eat both plant and animal matter) and are a tropical species, which means that they need to be provided with heat sources, plenty of water, and climbing facilities.
