Yes. they are in mov format. I'm sorry it did that to your computer (if it did), but that's the way I got them and rather than changing the format, I chose to leave them original. Too many times I've dowloaded stuff and it was something I already had but someone had just changed the format or length or split it or..., so I like to leave things as original as I can.
As to quicktime locking up your computer, it is one of the main movie formats (from apple I believe). I can't see why it would lock up your computer and corrupt your security software. I have scanned the files and have found no viruses.
