  Welcome!

This is my first attempt at creating a website so please bear with me and as time progresses so will this site improve!

My interest in Wood turning goes back almost 20 years and it has been an on again off again process due to my 25+ years in the United States Navy. Now that I have retired and have time to spend I have again taken up Bowl turning. The last 2 years I have spent a good bit of my spare time out in the shop creating, learning and refining my skills. Hopefully by this  next summer I will have enough product on hand to begin showing and selling at local craft fairs and shows and finding outlets at local galleries for my lathe turned items.

Feel free to contact me about my bowls or to just chat about my work. I'd love to hear from you all and even though this is a non-commercial site I'd be happy to part with any of my bowls if you might be interested in purchasing them. Drop me a note and we can discuss terms. Each bowl is numbered so just include the number when asking questions about a specific bowl.

Segmented Construction, my preference!

Way back in the 70's I came across a book in a book store called Polychromatic Assembly for Woodturning by authors Emmett E. Brown & Cyril Brown. The book back then was in its first edition and after reading it from cover to cover a few times I knew right then and there that segmented construction was the direction I would enjoy exploring.

Thru trial and error I built jig after jig until I had built a workable tablesaw jig to to cut and prepare accurate segments and I seemed to be on my way to making some nice bowls.

For those of you who don't know what segmented construction is, it is precise cutting of small pieces of wood on a table or band saw, then gluing them together into patterned rings or layers, and then gluing these layers together to form the bowl. Then its turned on a lathe and cut to the desired shape. Next, the bowl is finished by sanding and preparing the surface for a desired finish.

I hope you all enjoy the bowls I have created and as I continue making new and different bowls I will put the new pictures of them in my gallery. I hope you return often to see my new work.

Thanks for stopping by Again!
