Student Telecommunication Acceptable Use Agreement

We are pleased to offer students access to our district network for educational use. To gain access all students must obtain parental permission and must sign and return this form.

Overview:
Access to the Internet and a number of on-line computer services are currently available. These services connect millions of computers and users all over the world with e-mail (electronic mail), live chats (conversations), and video conferencing capabilities.  There is a wealth of educational and useful information to be found as there would be if you and your child were to travel the world.

Along with the educational and useful materials that can be found on the Internet, there are a number of places students may find that could be objectionable to you.  This document has been prepared to explain what the expectations are for anyone using the equipment, facilities, and services provided by our schools to gain access to the Internet and various On-line services.

With the Internet:
Students are expected to learn to be responsible users of the Internet and On-line services. Valuable information and interaction coming from the use of the Internet and On-line services far outweighs the possibility that users may receive information that is not consistent with accepted teaching standards. Teachers, staff, and supervisory personnel will take precautions to prevent students from entering areas that may be objectionable.

We encourage your help in guiding your child to use on-line services responsibly by reading over this document together. We further recommend continual discussion and monitoring of your child's interaction, learning, and exploration activities throughout the year for both encouragement of good practices and prevention of possible problems.  Please indicate that you have read this document with your child and agree with the rules specified by signing where indicated and returning this document to the school.

If there is ever a question about your child's interaction with the on-line services,
please contact your child's teacher immediately.
