On  March 2, eight of Pack 348's road warriors took their cars on the road to the Ojibwa District's Pine Wood Derby and More.
The event was held at the Walter Chrysler Museum in Rochester Hills.  Two tracks were setup downstairs in the basement, among all of the vintage sports cars.  All of the preliminary races were held down there, with the kids sitting right next to the track, cheering on their cars.
The Scouts raced by age group and the top 12 racers from each group went upstairs to the finals track.   In the theater a varnished six lane track had been set up, next to dozens of historical exhibits of cars through the years. Four of our boys made it up there, and two ended up placing in the top four.
Our congratulations to Zak Reilly of the Bears and Matthew Frank of the Tigers.  Way to go, guys!!.
The boys were able to sit next to the track
The prelimnary races were held on two tracks set up next to the Chrysler muscle cars, like this 1970 Barracuda.
Matthew Frank placed Fourth among the Tiger Cubs.
Zak Reilly placed Fourth among the Bears.
The Finals Track
When they weren't racing, the boys were able to "drive" a 2002 Prowler.   No gas, no battery, but a good photo op.
