HERE'S MORE STUFF YOU MUST KNOW! CONDUCT Proper and mature conduct by all members will be strictly expected and enforced at all times. You are judged by the way you look, the way you dress, the way you walk and talk, the way you interact with others, the way you carry yourself. If you want to be judged in a mature, good, professional way then you must ð
ð
behave yourself at all times, but especially when you are in the host school’s building - treat it and yourself with respect.ð
look neat and clean including (but not limited to) having a proper haircut-hairdo that will not call attention to itself but will enhance your proper presentation;ð
make sure you brush your teeth and use mouthwash - bring a pack of gum with you to keep your breath fresh during the day (or mints);ð
make sure you shower and use deodorant; don’t overuse perfume or aftershave;ð
make sure your clothes are cleaned, wrinkle-free, professional, no jeans ever, no clothing with writing on it, dress shoes, clean dark socks for men, neat stockings/tights/pantyhose for women, no revealing clothing, no mini-skirts for women, men’s slacks must be worn properly (not down on your behind) - I think you get the idea!;ð
NO profane, indecent and/or obscene language at any time - be aware of what you say and especially when and to whom you say it from the minute you step on the bus at CVCA to the minute you get off the bus at CVCA! ;ð
‘Carry’ yourself with pride and respect when you are at the competitions - people will respect you more. Head up, look as though you know where you are going and what you are doing (even if you don’t), look confident, act confident, be confident;ð
Meet and greet others with confidence and friendliness, don’t be ‘cocky’ and overconfident. Don’t be a ‘jerk’ or a ‘punk’. These competitions are not the time nor place for that kind of behaviorð
Be a gracious & humble winner/loser. There will be winners and losers in these competitions, based on where you place in each round. Learn from those who constantly do well. You are a winner the minute you walk in the door at the competition because you are there and you will compete - most high school students could not and can not do what you do. If you do win - CONGRATULATIONS! - cherish the moment, be joyous, welcome the praise others give you! But after the competition is over, you have to start all over again.Any team member who exhibits improper behavior at competitions will be removed from further competition beginning immediately until a parent/coach conference is held. You represent not only yourself, but your behavior reflects on your team mates and your school. Think before you act - and act in a mature, refined, and respectable manner.
If you are unable to afford items that we’ve just discussed, please see Mr. B and he will do what he can to help you out.
