Rites Conducted Sunday 
At Denver For Victim


Funeral services were held at 11:00 a. m., Sunday, May 6, for
Sterling Clay Rice, 57, at the home of his mother, Mrs. Sarah
C. Rice, at Denver.

He was killed May 3, 1951 in a mining accident in Harlan,
Ky., where he had worked for 18 years.

The services were conducted by Rev. C. E. Brown.

Born February 4, 1894 in Denver, Ky., he was the son of Sarah
C. Blair Rice and the late George W. Rice.

He was married June 22, 1920 to Lillian Fitzpatrick.

He joined the church at Denver when he was a young man and
was very active in church work.

Other survivors include three children, James Marvin Rice,
Johnson City, Tenn.; Georgene Rice Jones, Niles, Ohio;
Yolanda Rice Costanzo, Middlesboro, Ky; two grandchildren,
James Marvin Rice, Jr., and Sharon Lee Costanzo, and three
brothers Norman Rice, of this city, Archie Rice and Alger
Rice, Denver, Ky.
