Joel Rice 

FRANKLIN — Joel Rice, 79, of Franklin died May 4, 2001, at 
a Bowling Green nursing home. 
The Hartsville, Tenn., native was a retired farmer. He was 
a son of the late Jacob Rice and Minnie Rice. 

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion Apostolic 
Church with burial in Shady Rest Cemetery. Visitation will 
begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Gatewood-Burrus Funeral Chapel. 

Survivors include six daughters, Betty Rice of Franklin, 
Edna Segar of Louisville, Shirley Rice of Evansville, Ind., 
Debbie Rice of Newport, Donna Hunter of Wichita, Kan., and 
Teresa Dawson of Baltimore; three sons, Joel Rice Jr., and 
Danny Rice, both of Franklin, and Jacob Rice of New York; a 
sister, Mary Rice of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Nathan 
Rice of Cleveland; and several grandchildren, great-
grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
