Donald R. Rice, 70 Donald R. Rice, 70, Crestwood, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Tri-County Baptist Hospital in La Grange. He was a native of Crittenden County, a retired dairy farmer, a Kentucky Outstanding Young Farmer in 1967 and a member of Farm Bureau, the National Rifle Association and the Oldham County Jaycees. He worked with 4-H and Future Farmers of America, was a precinct captain for the Oldham County Republican Party and a member of Crestwood United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, the former Viola Hirsbrunner; three sons, Donald Rice of Brighton, Colo., David Rice of Ankeny, Iowa, and Mark Rice of Crestwood; three sisters, Bertha Butler of Marshall, Mich., Lilly Weber of Royal Oak, Ark., and Virginia Marlowe of Indianapolis; and five grandchildren, Douglas, Aaron, Adam and Jacob Rice and Michelle Davis. Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Crestwood United Methodist Church, with burial in Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood. The Rev. Jim Powell and Dr. John Kerce, both of Crestwood United Methodist Church, and Brother John Schroll of Church of God officiated. Visitation was Saturday and Sunday at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood. Pallbearers were Greg Prince, Steve Prince, Bob Faletti, John Effinger, Douglas Rice and Robert Rossau. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Crestwood United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Era Online 09/06/2001
