Alfred Rice 

METROPOLIS, Ill.--Services for Alfred R. Rice, 85, of 
Metropolis will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral 
Home in Metropolis. The Rev. Gary Cruse and the Rev. 
Bobby Parker will officiate. Burial will be in Zion 
Methodist Church Cemetery in Ozark. 
He died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home. 

Mr. Rice was a retired member of Laborers International 
Union of North America Local 773. He was a charter member 
of Immanuel Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lawrence 
Rice; one son, Ed Rice of Gary, Ind.; one daughter, Pat 
Teckenbrock of Harrisburg; five grandchildren; and eight 
great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. 
His parents were Lloyd E. Rice and Lydia Collie Rice. 

Friends may call at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
