Batik is a textile painting technique using beeswax, paraffin and multi color dyeing. Over the centuries, batik painting has developed into three sub-techniques: Hand Waxing by using a tool made of brass or copper, Stamp Waxing by using copper stamps with various motives and, third, a combination of these two techniques. In Yogyakarta (and its sister town Surakarta 60 kilometers in the east), the dominant colors are blue and black, symbolizing water and air. Due the important role of Batik Painting in the daily life of the people in Central Java, Yogyakarta is facilitated with a plenty of Batik Schools and Colleges, which offer Batik Painting courses opened for foreigners.Batik is hand made and made by human with basic skill.
