"North and South America in Nahuatl are called Ixachilan and are considered to be one mass of land united by the Eagle and Condor not two seperate continents. Anahuak is the section of Ixachilan which includes Aztlan, Mexiko, Amalpan (Belize), Kuauhtemallan (Guatemala), Atenantitech (Honduras), Cuzcatlan (El Salvador), and Nikananawak (Nicaragua). "Central America" was created when Spain divided up the land and handed it out to former Spanish soldiers, whose descendants are still in power. Existing regional differences were exploited by Spain and others in the age-old "divide and conquer" scheme. To date, national rivalries play themselves out, sometimes innocuously (during qualifying matches for soccer's World Cup), and sometimes quite viciously (Central Americans en route to the U.S. complain of brutal treatment while passing through in Mexico). Further, demonstrating how many have almost blindly accepted & played into the imaginary, political, man-made borders set up during colonial times.
