Chapter Seven of  Scouts Honor

Scrambling back through the window she had come out of, Usaginow de-transformedthought of who Tuxedo Kamen could be.  Seating herself on the couch, she waited for Mamoru to enter.  "Where were you?" They both asked.  "UmmmPMS?"  Usagi ventured a reply, then relaxed as she saw that Mamoru bought it.  *No self respecting guy would ever question a girl about PMS!  Good job Usagi!*  "But where were you?"

"The bathroom?"  *Better than no answer!* Mamoru thought to himself.  "Sowhat were you saying Usagi?"

Usagi quickly rethought her decision.  Should she have Mamoru look at Amis injuries?  Could she trust him?  She could still get out of the situation.  Thinking back to Amis tortured body, she shook her head.  Mamoru seemed to be the only oneHer dad would freak, her mom didnt know anything about medical stuff, same with Motoki and the hospital would ask questions that the senshi could ill-afford to answer.    Mentally nodding, she glanced at the clock.  The battle had taken little time, and they could visit Ami for awhile before she had to get home.  "Just a minute Mamoru, let me call my parents."  *If I tell them I am visiting a sick friend, that would be true and I could get more time with Ami.*  Picking up the phone, she shhh-ed Mamoru, signaling for him to be quiet.
"Moshi-Moshi?"  her mother had picked up the phone, thank god.  "Hi mom!  Its Usagilisten, I have a sick friend I want to visitits Ami"  Outlining where she would be, her mother agreed that Usagi could stay out later but she had to be home before eight oclock.  "Thank You!"  Hanging up the phone, she motioned to Mamoru.  "Come on."
Walking to Makotos apartment was a silent affair, with Mamoru struggling over why and where Usagi was taking him, and Usagi hoping that she had made the right choice.  They entered the elevator and Usagi voiced her thought, "I hope, Mamoru, that you can be trusted not to talk to anyone about what you will see here."  She stared straight ahead, as Mamoru looked at her, confused.  "ummOkay Usagi.  It isnt anything illegal, is it?"  She shook her head.  "No, Mamoru, it isnt illegal."  Her normally cheerful demeanor faded away into worry.  They exited the elevator and Usagi knocked on Makotos apartment door.  It opened and Makoto said "Usagi she is worse"  Makoto cut off when she saw Mamoru.
"WHAT is HE doing HERE?"  Looking at the ground, Usagi whispered, "He is studying to become a doctor.  I think we can trust him.  I didnt know who else to ask"  With this she started crying silently.   Alarmed, Mamoru gathered her up into his arms, rocking her gently.  Looking straight at Makoto, he asked in a frenzied tone of voice, "What is wrong?"  *Anything that makes Usagi cry like this has to be bad* He thought frantically.
Glancing at him again, Makoto seemed to size him up.  Finding him all right, she beckoned.  "Follow me."  Closing the door she paced over to her rooms door.  Opening it, he transferred, albeit unwillingly, Usagi to Makotos arms.  Entering the room he noticed the stifling atmosphere and the small figure on the bed.  Seating himself on the edge of the mattress he rolled the figure over.  Gasping, he saw that it was Ami, but not the girl he knew from a few of his classes, a desperately sick Ami.  Glancing over to Usagi, he saw the hope in her eyes.
He started to remember what needed to be done as the shock receded.  Keeping the girls busy, they worked far into the night.  Usagi left around 7:30 to get home on time, but he still had many things to do.

The next morning Usagi visited and saw, to her relief, the same content expression on Amis face as she had noted the few days before.  Smiling, she beheld Mamoru, asleep in one of Makotos easy chairs.  Kissing him impulsively on the nose, she whispered her thanks as he woke up.  Leaving, she knew that all would turn out alright.

She came back later that day, shyly greeting the college student.  "Thank you for your help Mamoru-san"  Mamoru grinnedshe looked so adorable when she was shy!  However, he did need some answers.  Motioning for her to sit, he took one of her hands in his own.  "UsagiI think I need to know what is going on.  Why couldnt Ami go to the hospital?  Why is she hurt so bad?  Why the secrecy?"  Usagi looked away.  *What am I going to tell him?  I am Sailor Moon and Ami was hurt in battle?  Yah right*  Grinning weakly, she held up one finger.  "Just a minute."  She joined Makoto in the bedroom. "Should we tell him?  He has a right to know."  Makoto firmly shook her head.  "No way Usagi.  You know what that could mean to us."
Listening to the rise and fall of voices, Mamoru leaned back in his chair.  What could be so important?  *Could they be involved with drugs?  Theft?*  Worried, he furrowed his brow.
"I think he should know. He can keep a secret, I know it."
"Why do you want your worst enemy to know this?  How do you know you can trust him?"
*Good thought Usagi.  How DO you know he can be trusted?* "I just know.  Please Makoto?"
The brunette sighed, then nodded slowly.  She started to smile"Can I tell him?  Or at least watch?  I cant wait to see the look on his face!"  Giggling, Usagi agreed.
