| INTRODUCTION |
The development of science and
technology is a continuous process which includes Information and Communication
Technology (ICT), Geographic Information System (GIS), Global Position
System, etc. New branches of knowledge and the newest technologies help
resolve the tasks that man encounters all the time. GIS is an information
system for capturing, storing, analyzing, managing and presenting data
which is spatially referenced (linked to location). Such a system includes
five main components: hardware, software, and data, algorithms for data
processing and analysis, and, naturally, specialists working with GIS.
Geographic information system technology can be used for scientific
investigations, resource management, asset management, archaeology,
environmental impact assessment, strategic environmental assessment,
urban planning, cartography, criminology, geographic history, marketing,
and logistics to name a few. For example, GIS might allow emergency
planners to easily calculate emergency response times in the event of
a natural disaster, GIS might be used to find wetlands that need protection
from pollution, or GIS can be used by a company to site a new business
location to take advantage of a previously under-served market.
GIS have transformed the way spatial (geographic) data, relationships
and patterns in the world are able to be interactively queried, processed,
analyzed, mapped, modeled, visualized, and displayed for an increasingly
large range of users, for a multitude of purposes.
Cutlan Consultant was founded in 2002 as Cutlan technologies, due to
its increased activities the name was changed to Cutlan Consultant from
2008. Cutlan Consultant integrates management experience with a solid
understanding of GIS and application development technologies. Our aim
is to provide our clients with the best possible level of service. The
key elements of our success include our ability to:
• Understand the client's needs from both the technical andorganizational
perceptive;
• Master new GIS technologies and apply their use across multiple
industries;
• Train users from the novice to the advanced level in the leading
GIS software products; and
• Customize applications for deployment on desktop and Internet
platforms.
