What is Plastic Canvas?
Plastic canvas is a variation of needlepoint, but it is so much more fun to do because you can make so many decorative items that wouldn't be possible with cloth! The projects that can be made are only limited by your imagination!
There are four sizes of canvas to work on. The largest is the 5 count, which has five stitches to the inch. The 7, 10, and 14 count canvas sizes get smaller as the numbers grow larger. All of the items in the Cutie Pie Creations catalog are made from 7 count canvas.
To make the designs on your canvas, yarn is used. Thicker yarn usually helps the project look nicer because it covers the canavs better. A needle - a bit thicker and longer than regular sewing needles - is used. The yarn is woven through the canvas with the needle in accordance to a pattern.
Plastic canvas is very fun and easy! All craft stores sell the supplies needed for this project, as well as multiple patterns! This form of needlepoint is easy to learn and enjoyable!
