"Merton how can you not like ski trips."
"Well there is the long bumpy noisy trip there.It's cold and hilly and I must be the only person who can't ski."Merton stated.It was the morning of the big Pleasantville high ski trip. Merton, Lori, and Tommy among the rest of the student body was waiting to board on of the many buses on the way to Pleasantvilles highest peak Point Pleasant
"Don't worry Merton I'm going to be ice skating most of the time,"Lori said.
"Merton I don't know much about sking either.I'm more of the football type.Maybe me and the team can play some snow football."Tommy said.
"Tommy theres going to be 20 inches of snow and it's 25 degrees there.Your football will freeze.Forget the ball your freeze."Merton Explained.
"Yeah besides most of the students will be crashing in their lodges"Lori said.
"Thats right every group stays in there own lodge"
"Your lodging with us right, Lori"Tommy asked
"Yeah if they don't make a fuss, well even if they do."
"That will be so cool.I can share our wolf stories and not to mention ghost stories"Merton laughed.
"Group 13 come to the bus"the person said over the loud speaker
"Thats us,lets go."The trio boarded the bus.Tommy put all his bags except his football in the baggage part of the bus.Merton felt it necessary to bring a few spell books and supplies with him.He had this in his coffin bag.Lori brought a few weights and her CD's and player.She also brought her camera.
    The bus ride was long and boring.But it was smooth say for a few minor occarances with TNT.But it was an O.K trip.When they arrived the scenary was a wonderful snowy dreamland.
    "Tommy this is soo beautiful"Lori exclaimed." Merton get over here and look at this"
"Yeah it looks nice but guys lets find our cabin its cold out here."
"Sure Merton"
"Here kid lets see your number"a point pleasant ski attendant asked Merton.
"Cabin 13"
"Whoo they still let people lodge there"
"Yeah why" Tommy asked
"Well I shouldn't be telling but cabin 13 has a history of being haunted.
"Cool maybe we can see the ghost and me without my cold spot themometer."Merton cried
"Well I wouldn't be so excited the last group went missing.
"Well anyway I'm sure you'll be fine this way to the cabin.
     Later that night Merton,Lori , and Tommy was sleeping in their bunks.Merton woke up suddenly. He sat up"uhh wahh" he said goggly his eyes barely opened.He saw a transparent figure by the wall.His eyes went wide."Thats no ghost it's a telescoptic image."Then he saw something that truely made him want to scream.Two gloved hands reaced out coveing his mouth.Then a smell the horrid smell of knock out gas. Fanactic thoughts filled his mind WHY WHAT HELP TOMMY LORI.He tried to yell scream shout alert his friends.But the hands held frim against his trashing.Then all went black
Next morning Tommy woke up " Yo Merton Lori ready for a day of ultimate sking.
"Yep hey Merton get up"Lori responded "Merton"
Tommy walked to his bed and pulled away his covers to find an emptyy bed.
"Yo Merton where are you man." Tommy asked to the windless air.

The same time else where on the mountain
"Uhh my head......where am I"Merton asked not expecting an answer
"Your inside the mountain Merton. When people find out that the ghosts are fake or if I see them as a theat. I take them here.Now you have to work."Said a bearded man. "And you seemed a little to happy about being in a hauted cabing and now your here"
"Whats the point with the ghosts and the scary stuff and what work"the knock out gas hasn't worn off completely yet.
"Cabin 13 is over a old abandoned gold mine."
"Theres' been no gold in pleasantville in a hundred years."
"Yeah but if they dug deep they would have hit black gold enough for me to be rich and in secrety I don't have to spilt the earning or pay any taxes."he laughed and grinned "and when people find out they work by digging in the mine.Well you are a strong healthy youth your'll dig."
"And if I refuse"
"I noticed the girl and guy in your cabin how would you feel they suddenly came up missing."the Man mocked.Merton got up and grabbed the shovel
"I'll dig for your stupid oil just don't hurt my friends."
"I knew you would see it my way"as the bearded man grinned.Merton followed the man unwillingly but he knew that if he didn't corporate his friends would be dead or share the same fate.The bearded man man lead Merton to a large cave entrance and he saw some thing that truely frightened him.Merton has seen demons,monsters, and even ghosts but this, this he never could have imagined even with all his ancient books of lore and gore.Hundreds of people men and women most about the same age as him.All were chained and digging or picking at the rock and soil.Most looked as if they had went days of this back breaking labor.And for a moment this thought filled his mind 'Boy demons get a bad rap compared with some people demons don't seem so bad.....'Before he could blink or finish his thought a big musclar guy came out from the side and slapped on some chains.
"Hey whats this,I said I'll wwork"
"Yeah but this is alittle insurance that you won't run."a brief pause came to the man lips and then he bend down and whisped into Merton's ear "When you find out I'm going to take you friends to work for me."
"No" Merton yelled throwing down the shovel and running towards the bearded man "You said you wouldn't hurt them you tricked me for what your stupid oil.Well I won't dig for it.
"Oh yes you will.Muscles will make sure of that"As he guestured to a big muscle man that had a whip hanging from his waist. Merton started to back away he had the look of fear in his eyes and his face full of uncertainly and terror.
Later that day the scene opens in an office focused on the door.
Tommy and Lori come into the offic worry and fear evident in their eyes.
"Um excuse me but we were told to see you for the situation were in."
"Which is"A voice answered from behind a leather swivel chair. The chair turned to them and the brearded man who had Merton captive was there in the chair."I'm Mr. Malice the director of the missing and trails."
"Yeah our friend Merton is missing.He disappeared last night."Lori said
"He wouldn't happen to be a pale kid in black would be."
"Yeah did you see him"Tommy asked
"Yeah at the break of dawn he was headed to the blacks trails for the experts only.I only remember because I told him not to go that way but he ignored me and went anyway."Mr.Malice sighed
"Ok Thanks"Lori said walking out of the office.
"Lori Merton on the expert trail he wouldn't even attempt the bunny slope alone yesterday"Tommy said
"Yeah maybe but Tommy when Merton gets hooked on the weird stuff he gets a one track mind but I thought he would get us for help."Lori said disappointed
"Well we'll ask him when we find him"As they ran off towards the black trails."
