Gackt first
became famous for being Malice Mizer's singer: everyone praised
his beautiful warm and sweet voice. He left Malice Mizer
in 1999, no one really knows why. Gackt announces his decision
during Spring 1999, his first mini-album, Mizerable being
released soon after: immediate success. Moon is released in
2002, once again alterning ballads and energic rock, and probably even
more rock than previous albums.
After the release of this album, and to continue "the Moon concept",
Gackt
decides to make his own movie, Moonchild: he wrote the story,
and plays in it, asking Hyde (L'Arc~en~Ciel's singer) to
play the other "main role" of the movie, which he accepts. After a few
other singles, Crescent is released in December 2003.
