In These Treetops
In these treetops so high, A silly, funny monkey, I gnaw my tail at its south. I get hairs in my mouth.
Down beneath the others stare. They're looking at me funny. They laugh, looking up at me. I gnaw and chew and gnaw again.
Leaves come falling down on me. I chew and nibble unregarding. They're shaking the tree below me. the hairs in my mouth annoy me.
I'm now tired of the laughing, So I'll quit gnawing on my tail. Even though I have quit, My tail is messy and very wet.
Now, the others looking up at me Say that I should learn to fly. I don't have wings; why should I go? Anyway, it can't hurt to try.
Up in these treetops so high, A crazy monkey tries to fly. I jump off the tree and go ker-splat! That was the fall that made me flat. |
