We were much better prepared for A-kon 16.
Of course, we took a lot more anime club members
with us this time. Anime Club members that
attended A-Kon 16 with us were: Kit, Ryan, Matt,
Chris, Jason, Stafani, Mikka, Jeff, Trish, Laura,
Regan, Mei, and Conner.
We left Weatherford College at around 5 am. A
little bit of traffic, but we managed to make it to
the Adams Mark Hotel before registration
started that morning. We didn't have as much
problem getting the rooms this time. Better
planning helps, I've decided.
The first panel Larry and I went to was the first voice acting panel of the convention. There, I got to see Vic. There were some REALLY funny moments during that VA Panel. At one point, a girl asked if someone had ever asked them to sign a body part. The story Vic told after that was hilarious. It is all on film and I will put that on here as soon as possible. (Hard time finding a good place to store videos.)
We also went to a Directing Dubs panel with Mike McFarland and Taliesin Jaffe, the Funimation and ADV panels, and the AMV contest. The AMV contest was really special for me because it was my first time to enter an AMV into the contest. Also, it did get shown, and a lot of the videos that were sent in didn't get shown, so I was really happy. If you want to see that AMV and other AMVs I've made, go to my AMV Page.
The Opening Ceremonies and Cosplay Contest were so packed that I did not get to go to either of them. Larry and Chris got to go to the cosplay contest, though. There are also some more A-kon 16 photos on my Yahoo! Photos.
There's not much about this con from me because I was sick most of the time. I missed Fullmetal Fantasy, which is what got us talking about going to Oni-con. There was one really nice time during the con for me. Larry bought me an Ed figure. I wanted to get Vic to sign it, but I was feeling ill and Larry said I needed to get up to bed. Vic was standing outside taking pictures and I approached him to ask when his panels on Sunday would be or any time I could get an autograph. He went ahead and signed it there. I'm so grateful he did that, since I still felt sick the next day and barely made it through any panels. As I stood there, waiting to get a chance for him to sign it, I noticed how he talked to the fans. Despite the fact he had so much to do, he took the time to get countless pictures taken.
I also got to see Aaron Dismuke, the voice of Al on Fullmetal Alchemist. He's a funny kid, and not at all ready for the spotlight. We watched him cower before a nearly 7 foot tall Sailor Moon... though I really can't blame him on that one. Seeing Vic and Aaron is just adorable and you can see a little bit of them in Ed and Al. (Though Vic is way older than Aaron) |
