To make a poster that reflects the knowledge gained from the lesson and use writing skills to display the sense that was chosen.

Kentucky New Teacher Standards:

Context-

The objectives of this lesson relate to the broad goal of this lesson by covering the topic of the five senses, along with teaching students higher thinking skills and working on their writing and vocabulary skills. The major focus of this unit is the five senses. It will be important to work with those students who may have a disability and make sure that the subject is sensitive their abilities.

 Resources-

Resources include poster paper, crayons, pencils and the links: http://www.sciencenetlinks.com/Esheet.cfm?DocID=100 and http://www.arches.uga.edu/~andrea1/senses.htm.

 Procedures-

I will let each student experiment on their own, with assistance from me, and learn how to manipulate the objects they are presented with. They will have a certain time frame that they must stick to in order for their work to be completed in a timely fashion. I will make sure that I address each group and assist any students in need.

 Student Assessment-

I will give each student a rubric that I have created that clearly states the objectives of the assignment. I will also be monitoring each student and tracking their involvement in group discussion.

REFINEMENT- I will post each student's work and have each student present their poster to the class.

IMPACT—Prepared after the lesson and post-observation conference

 Reflection/Analysis of Teaching and Learning-

Students are expected to keep on task and complete their project by the assigned date. This project is worth 4 points which is equivalent to an A. A three is considered a B, a 2 is considered a C, and a 1 is an incomplete. An excellent poster will receive an A, a good poster will receive a B, an average poster will receive a C, and a poster that was not completed will receive an incomplete.

Discuss student progress in relation to the sated objectives (i.e., what they learning with indicators of achievement.)  Discuss success of instruction as it relates to assessment of student progress.  Include three student samples (high, average, low) and an analysis of their performance based on assessment results.

REFINEMENT—Prepared after the lesson and post-observation conference

 Lesson Extension/Follow up:

I will have a review after the unit is complete of each idea that the student should have learned. I will have each student do a journal entry on what they learned to ensure each student learned what was expected of them.

Note:  All three sections (ACTION, IMPACT AND REFINEMENT) should be included in your portfolio for review by each committee member.
