This plant hanger is of a basic style of 2 square knot sinnets and 2 spiral knot sinnets.  The lower portion is constructed in a diamond format that is able to fit a small pot (between 6 and 8 inch).  Other patterns can also be done, such as a dual plant holder.  Prices may vary for different styles.  Please contact me via E-mail for added info.
The following pictures are of a hammock that was completed in the Winter of 2001..  For information on how to construct this exact hammock, with personal comments to make the job easier, download this hammock project document (7 kB).  I would advise contacting a local fishing store for #60 nylon seine twine... and make sure you have at least a solid 3 months free that you can devote entirely to tying knots!
This is the upper half of the hammock.  Knotting was done in an alternating double square knot pattern.  The hammock uses a dual dowel system, making it sturdier than the standard single dowel version.  The braid on each side, a step that is typically added after all the knots are completed, was added as a primary step to avoid a "collapse" of the hammock.
The addition of beads between the two dowels is a completely optional step, yet it was felt that this would add a certain "flair" to the hammock.  The knotting sinnets between the two dowels are a spiral and a figure-eight type of alternating square knot.  All strands are wrapped around each dowel in multiple half-hitch knots.
The middle portion of the hammock is comprised of Josephine knots arranged in a diamond shape.  This is a rather subtle design that is worked into the pattern of the hammock that adds a bit of unique style.
If you do happen to pursue this particular project, I wish you the best of luck.  It will most definitely pay off in the end, as you will be able to create a unique addition to your backyard or even one of the rooms of your house.  It is an on-going project that does involve a great deal of time, but there are several "hints" to tying a hammock, which I learned the hard way.  If you would like any information, feel free to contact me at any time via E-mail, or drop me a line in the mail.  I can send an image file of the project through E-mail, along with some added hints, for anyone who is interested. I'll make sure that the information is in terms that first-timers can easily understand, because the original pattern is rather obscure and assumes that you know what you're doing.

This dream catcher was done as an Easter present for a family member.  It is wrapped with the same nylon cord used on the hammock I did.  A large one like this would go for $10, whereas a smaller one (about hand-sized) would be $5.  Beads can be added in the middle for the same charge as for the necklaces or bracelets, $0.50 for a 3-bead set.
