A short RIDE is all that is required. Saddle fit cannot be determined on a stationary horse. The horse must be moving with a rider in the saddle. HOW IT WORKS The Port Lewis Saddle Fitting System... begins with the IMPRESSION PAD which is made from a clear flexible vinyl and contains a mouldable putty. It is placed under your saddle and you go for a short ride. Once the saddle is removed you will have the exact impression of how that saddle fits that horse and rider. Because the IMPRESSION PAD is transparent... you can see the results for yourself there is NO guessing about your saddles fit. If Necessary... A customized saddle pad can be made to correct the fit using our CORRECTION PANEL SYSTEM. Sometimes just re-adjusting your current gear... can make the difference. | This saddle here is showing what we call bridging There is more pressure on the loin and a slight pressure being exerted on the withers. There is NO CONTACT being made in the CENTER of this saddle. With this paricular fit... horses tend to hollow out and go on the forehand to get away from the PRESSURE. You might also find that this saddle tends to 'ROLL'. |
