NOS Bottles - Click for Larger ImageI talked to Nick at Performance Bike Services in Christchurch and asked for his advise, which seemed encouraging so I fired ahead with the whole lot. I bought another DVD, this time from Suzuki Sportszone again in Christchurch called Serving Up 2, and in the DVD extras there was a piece for a place called Colorzone in the states, I watched that and saw a bike they Airbrushed for the movie Biker Boys and thought to myself - wow, that would be awesome to have my bike looking like that.

I talked to a chap they call Elvis down the road from where I work at a small place called JBFX, and he put me onto another guy called Bruce (this guy totally rocks, 25 years airbrushing experience!) who does a bit of airbrushing for them. After a couple of days they had a design. The work with the paint progressed really quickly, my tank at one time even had a wee Allen coming out it, that's gone now but at least I took a photo of it on there. Since then I just couldn't keep away from there workshop seeing what progress they had made, it was taking shape, looking better each day, I was amazed at how Bruce was doing the work.

After the artwork was completed the parts went to Daryl Poulsen Smash Repairs in Belfast for finishing, they put 4 coats of clear coat on and gave it all a buff and polish, that made all the airbrushing come to life.

Meanwhile at PBS, they had milled the Carb intakes to the head and started fitting the fogger nozzles for the NOS. The rear guard has been cut away and a carbon tray has been made to hold 2 x 10oz NOS bottles, the second bottle is still coming from the states, as is a programmable progressive nitrous controller, which should tame the application of NOS down a wee bit. The whole NOS application is concealed, you only know it's there if either you already know about it or look very closely.

It was very supprising to get everything inside the bike hidden, there were 2 solenoids (1 for fuel and 1 for the NOS), 12V fuel pump, plumbing plus electric's. There are 2 10oz NOS bottles under the seat in the custom carbon fiber tray.

On the Dyno we have the following figures:

Before going into PBS: 132HP
After work: 145HP
With NOS 206HP

There has been a lot of interest in my bike so far, it was displayed at the recent Auto Salon show in Christchurch, and that attracted a heap of interest. It would be great to see other examples of custom painted bikes and see what others are doing, if we can get enough we could get a great display going at these boy racer shows.

Approx. cost is as follows: (Prices in New Zealand Dollers)

Nitros Kit: $1500
Fitting: $1000 - $1500
Airbrushing $2500
Clear Coating $500

Next job on the list is to strip the bike down again to get all the alloy off the bike and have that polished and anodized to bring a bit more color to the bike.
