Centaine Courtney- Centaine is french and lives in a french chatue during the first world war with her father and nanny. During the war she saves a pilot called Michel Courtney. They fall in love and get engaged. On the wedding day Michel die's and later on she finds out she is pregnet. Her and her nanny travel to Africa where Michels adoptive father lives but on their way the ship sinks. Centaine get's washed up on the beach and rescued by two bushman. Later she gives birth to Shasa and decideds to leave the company of the bushman. She is mauled by a lion and rescued by Lothar De rey who she has a breif love affair with before realising he has killed the bushman. She eventually is reunited with her nanny only to find she is pregnet to Lothar. She discovers a Diamond mine and hiedes there till she gives birth, giving away the child to Lothar De Rey to raise.
Michel Courtney- Michel is an air pilet during the war and on his wedding day to Centaine dies in a areoplane crash.
Nanna- Nanna is Centaines nurse maid from when she was young. She looks after Centaine and is responsible for sending out the search party to look for her when the ship goes down.
O'wa- O'wa is a bush man that finds Centaine. At first he is reluctant to help her but soon becomes attached to her. He is killed mistakenly by Lothar De Rey.
H'ani - Hani is also a bushman and loves Centaine like her own. She takes her under her wing but throws herself off a cliff when her husband is shot.
Shasa Courtney- Shasa Courtney is the first son of Centaine and Michel.
Lothar De Rey- Lothar is German and rescues Centaine from the lion. He mistakenly kills the bush man beleiving them to be holding Centaine hostage. His wife and son are dead. He takes cantaines and his baby to raise himself after Centaine shoots him.

Shasa COurtney- Shasa is the son of Michel and Centaine. He is in love with Tara and a world class Olypian.
Manfred De Rey- Manfred is the son of CEntaine and Lothar. He does'nt realise Centaine is his mother and hates her. He also hates Shasa Who is his half brother. HE gets Sahah pregnet but marries Hedi a girl from Germany. He assasins his grandfather with out knowing who it is. Eventually Sarah dobbs him in . He is the Father of Lothar Jnr
Sarah- Sarah grows up with Manfred and is in love with him. She is pregnet to him but he marrys another, so she marrys his freind. She eventually kills herself.
Hedi- Hedi works for Hitler and Marrys Manfred so as he will help them do their work.
Blaine Malcommes- Blaine is in love with Centaine but already married. He is the father of Tara and is very high up in politics. When his wife dies the path is clear for Centaine and him.
Tara- Tara is in love with Shasa but after they marry and have for children their differing veiws create a rift between them. She has an affair with Moses Gama and helps plan a terrorist attack that kills her father and nearly kills Shasa. She has a son called Ben to Moses and eventually shasa makes her leave to England.

Moses Gama- Moses Gama is a head terrorist . He has an affair with Tara so she will do his work. He is the father of Ben
Ben Africa- Ben is the child of Tara and Moses.
Lothar De Rey Jnr - Is the son of manfred and works for the African police.
Kitty Glolderphin- Kitty is the reporter that Shasa has an affair on Tara with.
HUNGREY AS THE SEA
Nick Berg- Is the capatain of a selvage ship. He lost most of what he owned when his wife Chantelle left him. He has a son Peter.
Chantelle- Chantelle is Nicks Ex wife
Peter - Peter is Nicks son
Angel- Angel is the gay cook on board one of the salvage ships
Samantha- Samantha is rescued by Nick. She falls in live with him but it takes a while for her to convince him that it is true.
