I have been around Kerry Blue Terriers from a very early age and always admired the breed but it wasn't until I was 11 before we got out first Kerry Blue (Prince). He was true to the reputation of a Kerry, fiery with other dogs but an honorable companion and family pet. He was the pick of the litter when we got him and we decided that it would only be fair that we show him and we did in an open show in Lisburn when he was a young pup. From the moment I walked into that show I knew this is what I wanted to do, and under the influence of John Doran (Sliabh Dubh) who I owe an awful lot too for his advice and wisdom (that's right John I'm talking about you believe it or not!!) guided us through that first show. Prince didn't turn out to be the show dog after all so we kept very much clued into what was going on for a few years but there was no doubt the seed was planned very firmly in me!
It wasn't until the death of Prince that I was old enough to be able to negotiate a few things here at home in order to have the Kerry's properly and show them the way I want to. So again 2 years ago I turned to John seeking a Kerry bitch for showing, he directed traffic from his home in Canada, and I was able to get a young pup, we hope that she is the basis for future breeding programs and future success.
