"I was tired."
Says SU Basketball Star DeShaun Williams.
Back to the beginning of the story
The key testimony of the entire trial was on the second day, as Mia Ballard, who was with Williams and his girlfriend on the night of May 8th, claimed that she, not Williams, was the one who punched Wilcox. Ballard said that after DeShaun had come back from arguing with Wilcox, "He told us she was trying to fight him. I walked over to her, then punched her in the face." That simple.
There is more to this Atlanta, GA native, though. After winning a Basketball State Championship in Georgia, Mia Ballard decided to go to Syracuse and not try basketball at another level. Recently, Ballard was arrested for smuggling marijuana and ecstasy into a Manhattan Jail to an inmate she was visiting (because that jail anal sex just isn't good without E). Her one phone call when she got arrested, was to none other than, you guessed it, DeShaun Williams.

When asked how much Williams owes Ballard for her testimony, he
replied, "I don't owe anyone for the truth." Well, now Ballard is under University investigations due to her confession.

There was still more.  On Tuesday, the second day of testimonies, DeShaun reportedly fell asleep
5 separate times. His longest slumber was a 14-minute catnap during James McGraw's, his lawyer, closing argument. At one point in his closing statements, McGraw said to the all-white six person jury, "Does it make sense to you that this man would haul off and knock a girl down?" as he pointed to a sleeping Williams. He soon finished up and returned to his table with DeShaun as he noticeably called "DeShaun" twice. After that did not work he poked DeShaun lightly and then visibly shook the Star Shooting Guard to awake him out of his slumber.

During one recess on Tuesday, Judge Uplinger joked that they would splash water on Williams, in order to keep him awake.

After all was said and done, in this joke of a trial, twist after turn, DeShaun Williams was found not guilty of punching Wilcox. The following day, Williams was taken off of probation at Syracuse University, allowing him to take summer classes and qualify to play basketball next winter.

Despite not winning the case, Nicole Wilcox does not feel like a loser. "I feel like I won, " said Wilcox, the new sidekick on Hot 107.9's morning show. She won a contest to get the job, while submitting the photo seen on the previous pages. She had to send in a letter and a picture to get thought about for the job. Wilcox, who friends say is not a stranger to altercations, admits she has a nice rack and other qualities, in her
letter to Hot 107.9.

Quinn, the prosecutor, says he will not press charges against Mia Ballard, the young woman who admitted to hitting Wilcox, because he believes he already tried to prosecute the right man.

Amal Baggar, DeShaun's girlfriend, will also not press charges for the damage done to her South Campus apartment door, but DeShaun will pay for that, he says.

So after the smoke cleared, we are left with a shooting guard with no future who has two women expecting big things out of their meal ticket (plus at least one son with former
teammates' girlfriends) and a stitched up, sexy Otto the Orange who will be patrolling the airwaves early in the morning in Syracuse when myself, and definitely DeShaun, will be sleeping.
