| The Alpha Alpha Chapter of Corazones Unidos Siempre, Chi Upsilon Sigma Latin Sorority, Incorporated was founded on the campus of West Chester University on Sunday, December 2, 2001 through the determination, persistence, and hard work of one woman, Maria J. Andujar. Upon graduation of founding Sister Maria J. Andujar in May of 2003, her commitment and vision of having Chi Upsilon Sigma flourish on the campus of West Chester University was still evident. In the fall of 2003, three exemplary and dedicated women, Leticia Almiron, Nyra Aguilera-Lugo, and Natalie Almiron, began their journey into the Sisterhood of Chi Upsilon Sigma. With the inception of the beautiful Beta line, the CUS legacy remains strong at West Chester University - the Audacious and Ambitious Alpha Alpha Colony. As a recognized Greek organization on campus, CUS has participated in and supported various activities and programs: *"Meet the Greeks" sponsored by the Black and Latino Greek Council ~ Fall '01, Fall '02, Fall '03 *"Misconceptions of Greek Life" Forum sponsored by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. ~ Feb. | Corazones Unidos Siempre/Chi Upsilon Sigma Latin Sorority, Incorporated is an organization of diversed, college educated women who share interest in promoting social, political, educational, and cultural awareness. Chi upsilon Sigma has been in existence since April 29th, 1980, incepted on the New Brunswick campus of Rutgers - the State University of New Jersey. Our founders are seven Latinas who had a desire to form an organization to promote leadership in the community and Sisterhood. We are a sisterhood of ALL ethnicitesand cultures. Our common calling is a respect for one another and the ideals of our Founding Mothers, rooted in individuality, loyalty, pride, womanhood, and appreciation of all cultures and all its aspects. |
