WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THESE MEETINGS? |
There are many reasons to have these meetings, but below are the main points.
1. To schedule and lay out the plans for the upcoming support group meetings.
2. To get together with the command to work any items they have assigned.
3. To gather information and organize it in a proper manner to be presented to the entire Support Group.
4. To take suggestions from USS Curts sailors and families and work the items, possibly place them on the agenda.
5. Handle items that may be of a sensitive nature that may not or should not be handled at the regular meetings.
6. To create guidelines with the command's approval for the support group and activities the support group participates in.
7. To assign tasks to for upcoming events, programs, and/or to gather helpful information for everyone to have access to at the regular support group meetings. |

WHAT THE SGOM ISN'T! |
This is not a group that is a cliche. They are not above or have more rights than any other support group member. This group is nominated, approved by the command and voted for by the all who attend the support group meetings. These people are in the positions because you have voted them in. A vote is done every year, or depending on the circumstances, after each deployment. Anyone can be nominated and listed for command approval. Once the command approves the names, it is voted upon. One vote per sailor is allowed. If the sailor cannot attend the vote then is given to his/her spouse/so. If there is not a spouse or so then the vote is given to a parent.
These meetings are not held for gossiping, partying or anything of a personal nature. The Support Group President is open to taking suggestions for future SG meetings or events. If you have suggestions or questions, please feel free to contact her.
If you have any other questions regarding the SGOM, please contact one of the advisors or the CMC. |
